Ken,

Since there is no version "latest", I am going to assume you mean 4.16. ?The LocoBuffer-USB uses 57600. ?Your reference to 19200 implies that you have run into the 4.16 LocoBuffer-USB problem. ?The solution is to use the 4.17.6 test release.

I'm running Windows 10 on a HP notebook.
DecoderPro was working at one time a few months ago.
I have the latest DecoderPro downloaded and installed.
I have the latest version of Java installed.
I can bring up the DecoderPro roster page but it is in edit mode only. No programming radio button is visible.?
Going into preferences, the serial port select only lists "none Selected" and no other choices.?
In the Device Management page of the PC I can see my Locobuffer USB (com 3).
In the USB section I can see Locobuffer USB listed as one of the ports.?
I have tried several ports: 3, 4 & 5 but I still only get none selected as the only choice in the Preferences window of DecoderPro.
I can find the Locobuffer USB hardware and it says it is working properly
I have gone through the Windows Troubleshooting for compatiblity but none of the selections work.
I tried the suggested setting of 19200 baud, etc. but still no choice of com port in the Preferences window.
I have plugged the USB cord from the Locobuffer USB into other USB plugs on the machine and still no change.
I have a wireless mouse connected to the notebook and it works fine in each of the USB sockets I have tried the Locobuffer USB in.
I uninstalled the entire JMRI software then downloaded it again and installed but still no choice in com ports in the Preferences window of DecoderPro.
I'm really stuck here.

Locked Re: DC Occupancy Detectors for Signal Systems?

Keith

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Dr. Chubbs manuals explain how a prototypical signal system occupancy detector works, using batteries.? Since you are dead rail, I suspect a system that is somewhat prototypical is needed, but using some sort of DC power source instead of batteries.? If I recall correctly, the prototype used big relays that closed when the axel of a loco or car closed the circuit across the rails.? That would require solid axels, I think.? No problem when using dead rail, but finding them might be difficult.? Maybe turning the wheel sets in the trucks so you can get current across the rails. (just the opposite of what you would want to do in a powered system.)? Once you have the detector circuit worked out, then the rest is pretty standard circuitry, but will require you to add power to your layout, although not to your track, to drive trains.

?

You could take this to the extreme, using relays, etc like the prototype, but could get very expensive, but would be very cool!

Locked Re: Parse error with a very old file

Leo,

That file, working with 4.6 would be interesting to examine. I suspect
seeing what the 4.12 doesn't like will be very telling. It is quite possible
that there are somethings in there that will require manual intervention to
cure. While we've tried to leave a path forward for the files to convert
automatically, maybe there is something missed.

Locked Re: Decoder Pro & Tsunami Decoders #tsunami #pr3

Thanks Mick.? You're right.? I realized that in my installation, I probably wasn't picking my programming mode properly.? I would always set the DecoderPro to Program Track and open a Program screen to adjust CV's.? To test the change, I'd open an instance of a throttle, switch the track.? I have a DPDT switch to switch the track context.? During my testing where I had 308 messages on Program on Main mode, I did switch the radio button in Decoder Pro to Program on Main and would go back to the original instance of the Program screen and would still get the 308.? I thought that the Program screen was aware change I made in DecoderPro.?

Tonight I found that this is not the case.? I restarted JMRI and set the radio button to Program on Main, then opened an instance of the Program window and found that Write Changes to Sheet saved the values instantly with no 308 - I realized that the instant save was only saving the setting in the local configuration file and didn't necessarily mean that the value saved on the decoder.? When testing the value with the throttle, the change did not actually take on the decoder.? There might be other reasons for that, having to do with collisions when trying to get two functions to activate with on function key with out unsetting the prior values of function keys with the same function.? I was trying to set up ditch lights.? I'll be trying that tomorrow.

Thanks again,
Russ

Thanks for the response Steve. I have been operating PanelPro as you suggested - opening System Console automatically at start and not using Debug logging and did many runs yesterday searching for a problem in? my script, all without problems.
I will post a console log later today and also look at loading the fix.

Dave

If the loco is moving when it all goes wrong, it carries on moving and is unresponsive to the throttle.

I¡¯ve used both service and ops mode. Makes no apparent difference.

The additional functions I¡¯ve added have no sound slots defined. Some, most, of the ones that I want to change the function key for, do.

I¡¯ll send you over (offline) a description of what I want to achieve and the roster entry XML setups for this loco, if you like. ?I can offer the original setup, the one that doesn¡¯t work, and the interim one that does but which doesn¡¯t have the final setup I want to achieve. Would that help?

If you¡¯re getting a 308 error using programming on the main the something is horribly wrong with your setup. ?POM doesn¡¯t feature ack pulses and JMRI knows that, so if it¡¯s reporting a 308, you¡¯re not really in POM mode.

Allen,

Oops, sorry - a Java'ism snuck in there with my proposed correction.

Change line 15 to read:

`tw = jmri.InstanceManager.getDefault(jmri.jmrit.throttle.ThrottleFrameManager).createThrottleWindow()`

(i.e. no `.class` at the end of `ThrottleFrameManager`)

Sorry about that.

Hey Nick,?
? ?I have tried to use the tools myself but I am not certain it is complete.? I haven't asked if it was complete, just got the impression after multiple times of trying to use it over different versions of JMRI.? I did get it to draw a panel once but it seems to be very hap hazard at this point.? I hope that work continues on it because it looks like an awesome product.

Locked Re: speed matching

Googlng, I came upon this instruction sheet for the Bachmann 36-550, 4 function decoder.

https://www.toottoot.co.nz/downloads/files/Bachmann%2036550%20DCC%20Decoder.pdf? :

Bit 5 of? CV29 must be set too enable " USER defined Speed table " ? When you go into DecoderPro and Bachmann 36-550, Speed Table Tab, you must select the? "Use Speed Table" button? so that CV29. bit 5? gets set to proper value. Fail to do this and the User Speed Table will have no effect.

If DecoderPro can not IDENTIFY the decoder and match it to an existing roster entry,? you have issues with your program setup or the decoder in question.
When you read CV7 and CV8? you should get? 46 and 101, which you are getting from somewhere.? These are also used by DecoderPro to match with the roster.?

If you are still unsuccessful, use Program on Main? and fire out the User Speed Table and? CV29 value to the decoder..

If this still does not work. Give up, give in,? Remove decoder and place on table. Take mallet in hand and " convince " the decoder.?

Locked Re: Webserver layout editor panel showing incorrect block occupation for a crossover

Yeah, I didn¡¯t code the slips with alt colors or fill¡ primarily because the slip turnouts CLOSED and THROWN positions don¡¯t necessarily map directly into slip routes (i mean they do¡ but it can be different for every slip¡ they just don¡¯t map in any obvious way)¡
Think about it this way¡ if the left circle is green (meaning CLOSED) and the right is red (meaning THROWN) what route does that visually represent? A-D, A-C, B-D or B-C? Or both green? Or both red? Or left-red & right-green?
See? No obvious correlation. You kinda have to be able to see how the legs are connecting.

In edit mode the A leg of a slip has ether a magenta (disconnected) or blue (connected) square around it¡¯s connection. The other legs go CCW from it as B, C & D. (and red (disconnected) or green (connected) squares at their connection points. My ASCII art got mangled by the web (proportional vs. monospaced fonts)
With no rotation A, B, C & D are at 10, 8, 4 & 2 o¡¯clock.

I'm happily changing Row 40 to F28->Volume & Mute, writing changes in POM on my NCE Power Pro system and all is behaving as expected.

Obviously I don't have your Sound Project file to look at in LokProgrammer, but if you could open your original saved roster entry, do a File->Export->CSV file and email that directly to me, that would be very helpful.
I've tested a number of LokSound 5 and LokSound 5 DCC decoders, with firmware versions 5.0.71 and 5.1.1. I used the ALCO 12-244 projects for these tests.

I have not been able to reproduce your problem. There must be something odd about your project file and/or Function Map and/or decoder firmware version.

Please send me that CSV file exported from your original read of the decoder.

Just an update on where we are at. Yes, we did also use 3.10.1 from 2.14. All was well at 4.6.0.

I then went with 4..12.0, and I lost 2/3 of the signal mast table, with lots of java errors.

So at the moment we are with Win 8, Java 1.8, JMRI 4.6.0. All set with CMRI and NCE in simulation.

I think the owner at this point will connect the laptop to his layout and see how?it goes.?

Will keep you posted. Thank you for the help so far.
