I also use Notepad++ (on Windows). On Linux, I think I used Nano but I tried to avoid any editing while using my Linux box.

Car Roster
Hi,
It seems that when I get everything going good, something always come and bites me in the foot. OOOOOOch. I lost my Car Roster. I have looked in just about every layout and Roster .xml file that I have. It is about 60 or 70 cars too. They have to be in there somewhere. Can anyone give me some magic? How do I restore an xml backup file? I haven't looked in those yet and those are the only places that I haven't looked.? I hope someone can help. Thanks George |

Some interesting challenges with this layout. I was able to re-create the station scenario running from C to 1b. According to the route table, running through track 10 is the best route since the straight route has an additional hop and therefore a higher metric. By setting S35th to 500, it uses the straight route. If a block is occupied on the straight route it goes through track 10. Note: When an alternate route is used, each segment has to be cleared individually. By making 40 -> U2 into 2 NX segments and deleting the one segment 40 -> U2 route, you no longer need to use metic values since there is only one route. If you use tvsHs40 and tvsX21aa directly with an occupied block, a Stack dialog request is displayed. If you use tvvHs40 and tvvHsU2 somehow the occupied block problem is ignored or bypassed. If you use the green buttons, the NX process waits on the dialog response which never comes since the process was initiated by Logix. Re: Sequential Train Build
Hi Phil,
Please provide us with the build report for the train that only picks up 1 or 2 cars. The report should tell us why additional cars aren't being pulled.? Use the text editor feature for the build report, that will allow you to copy and paste the build report into your next reply. Dan |

Sequential Train Build
I am having trouble getting sequential trains to build properly. I have a layout that operates with all freights being turns. Departure times from the yard are 1900, 1935, and 2035 with each freight requiring approximately 1.5 hours to complete it¡¯s switching and return to the yard. Each spur to be switched has a schedule with Monday Pickup and a wait count of 1. Train Build is set to normal. Trains lengths are limited to 6 cars plus caboose and locomotive.
The 1900 train builds satisfactorily with between 4 and 6 cars and performs it¡¯s work at the appropriate spurs out and back. The 1935 train builds but is normally only 2 to 3 cars in length. the 2035 train also builds but with between 0 and 2 cars. Both the 1935 and 2035 trains show no work for 1 or 2 of the towns on the route. The No Work scheduled shows up for both the outbound trip and the return trip through a town. I have tried building each train and terminating it prior to building the next train in the schedule but that results in cars being assigned to a train immediately after arriving in the yard in the preceding train. During the various attempts which included no schedules for spurs, no move counts, and terminating and not terminating before building the follow-on train, there have been up to nine cars available in the yard and the program only selects 1 or 2 of the cars. Thanks in advance for any guidance or help. Phil |

I have removed the remaining SSL definitions. They were causing the load failures. I have uploaded an updated xml file to my folder. /g/jmriusers/files/ProblemsBeingWorkedOn/dsand/Alec%20OO%20shed%207%20DS.xml Dave Sand On Sep 2, 2018, at 12:43 PM, Alec Hudson <alechudson60@...> wrote: |

Re: New file uploaded to [email protected]
An XML file is plain text, so a plain text editor (i.e. Wordpad on Windows) can do it.

Morgan, I dont know the answer to your question. But I do know you need to post your question under a better header tag. Start a new topic - something like 'how to edit xml'.? You will get a quicker response to your question. The thread you added onto is kind of a generic notification and wont get much attention. Re: Scripts
It¡¯s OK to ask questions. A question is often easier & quicker to reply to a question than it is to read somebody's long narrative and try to guess what¡¯s confusing.
In the case of the ReporterFormatter.py sample script, I suggest you just read it as if it¡¯s an example: The first thing it does is call start(), so look at that to see how to register a listener. Figure out as much as you can, perhaps including experimenting with adding some print statements. Then, if you have a question, just ask it: ¡°How does the listener get called?¡± or ¡°What¡¯s the format of the listener¡¯s event?¡± or whatever. Re: Scripts
Bob,
If I have offended you - certainly unintentionally - then I sincerely apologize. This is just to clear up some misunderstanding. I did cast aspersions on the code I have in mind - I mean the while loop I was describing - but not on ReporterFormatter.py! Just the contrary. I am keen on grasping the latter because I feel that is what I am looking for. I did not formulate my request about it as a question just because I cannot expect anyone to explain what is inside. But there might be people who used to have the same difficulty and who would be willing to help me with it. Thank you for your comments that I am going to study in detail. Some may even help me better understand ReporterFormatter.py. Gabor |

Help! XML loads only Internet Explorer and is garbledeegoop. Unreadable.
Is there some other way to open a XML? Apparently a browser is not, and I tried LibreOffice, thinking it might be a spreadsheet. That don't work. Morgan Bilbo, PRR fan |

Re: PanelPro No Longer Reads Route Table after 4.12 Upgrade
OK I have edited the Panel XML file to replace all route <systemName> to IRnn i.e. the old Route Table still had route numbers but now all names start IR. This has sorted the problem. Chris On Sun, 02 Sep 2018 16:07:00 +0100, chrismajer@... <chris@...> wrote:

Panel no longer loads into 4.12
Hi
Please I would be very grateful if someone could look at my panel Alec OO shed 7 just uploaded into things being worked on. It no longer loads into 4.12. There is an error with the signals. I no longer use the signals and have deleted most of the parts but some would not delete. I would be greatful if this could be sorted. I tried reloading 4.11 and 4.10 to sort the problem but the panel would not load into any of them. Thanks very much Alec in the UK |
