John, After you get the error upload the session.log file located at /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/JMRI/log. Dave Sand ----- Original message ----- From: John Bauchiero <john4dhmr@...> Subject: [jmriusers] Mac Java 17 upgrade caused permission issue Date: Tuesday, September 03, 2024 8:57 PM My railroad's Pi/JMRI computer uses Java 17 included with MSteveTodd¡¯s compilation. With 5.9.x uses Java 17 and future releases will require 17, I upgraded to Java 17 JRE. and removed the zulu-11.jdk directory as per the JMRI method. It upgraded without any problems and worked as expected, maybe even faster? Re-boot done between each change.? After adding AZUL 17 JRE and removing the 11 directory when quitting JMRI and saving changes a dialog box pops up with Panel Pro ¡°Permission Denied¡±. Clicking OK allows the program to close, as expected. Upon re-starting JMRI the changes saved are there, as expected. No matter if I replace Java 11 as long as Java 17 exists the the error exists. Peter - I wasn't. Bob had asked to have Gil try a Development build and I was noting that the latest one doesn't work on M1 Mac.

I would use a script to start the train using the train info file. There are options to override some of the defined fields, such as the DCC address or roster entry. Dave Sand ----- Original message -----
From: "Richard Trilling via groups.io" <richard.trilling@...> To: [email protected] Subject: [jmriusers] Train entering multi track terminus Date: Tuesday, September 03, 2024 3:23 PM David What I'm trying to do is simulate a terminus station. I have a track coming into the terminus with an UNKOWN train, stopping in a block before the station(in2). It then examines all the tracks in the station (v1 -> v6) and chooses the first one that is unoccupied to enter. I've established have one .info file per track in the station. This .info file will be chained from the first .info file which brings the train to the block before the station(in2). Thanks to your previous response I now know how to identify the UNKNOWN train entering the block before station. The problem being is I have to transfer/write this identity into the "trainname" field of the .info file that I want to chain to. If I knew to write the locomotive identity into the chained "trainname" field, the rest I know how to do using LogixNG. Would you have any ideas on how to do this ? Hopefully what I'm writing is clear. Richard Trilling Edited on Tuesday, 3 September 2024 at 21:48 (GMT + 2) ¨¤ Paris, France; sent later. Attachments: * LadderTerminus.png |

Save Changes to Throttle Button doesn't save the state of all pressed buttons.
I have a throttle for a Soundtraxx equiped locomotive and I have changed the function call for one of the buttons on the throttle.?
Here is the properties for the button "Alternate Mixer".? Note it is set to latchable and visible
?
?
Here is the panel with the button set as well as the Short Horn Button set which is also latchable.
?
I have tried "Save Current Throttle" as well as "Export Current Throttle Customization to roster".
When I exit JRMI and then run it again, the next time the throttle is open the "alternate mixer" button is not selected, but "short horn" is.
?
?
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?? Thanks

Re: how do I remove JMRI from my PC running MS Windows
Tim,
?
For Windows 11, you uninstall JMRI like any other application.? Under Settings, Apps, Installed apps,? search for JMRI and uninstall.? That will remove the program.? To remove all data, delete your JMRI user profile directory.? I would not recommend the later as the amount of data created by JMRI is insignificant.?

Re: SSL or SML
#dispatcher
Joe
The Transit defines the route the train will take, dispatcher allocates sections ahead of the train, to be allocated they cannot be allocated to another train, and the blocks in the section are unoccupied and not allocated to another section. The switchs in a section must be set so the train can exit that section (we cannot change switchs in an occupied section). Seems simple. There are bizzion edge cases. We are continually refining the algorithms to keep up with the new "use cases" as they appear.
"No Signals"? is easier than using signals, and more robust, if you use signals you can set "permissive" and "intermediate" which can cause trains to not stop when the signal is stop as well as manually manipulate "aspects" and "speeds" that can also cause trains to go where they shouln't. The down side is that there is no way or holding/releaseing signals unless you set up special sensors and you cant force the train to enter an occupied block (no back up the loco onto the train type stuff), also speed changes can be? a bit jerky if you dont have "speed profiles" and short sections.

Re: how do I remove JMRI from my PC running MS Windows
Tim, Start PanelPro. ?Go to Help -> Locations. ?It will show you the locations for each type of JMRI data. ?By default, other than the install location, they will be sub directories under the "settings" location. ?Quit PanelPro. Use the Windows control panel to delete the JMRI install. ?There will normally be a left over JMRI directory at C:\Program Files (x86). ?Manually delete that. Delete the JMRI directory at C:\Users\<user name>. ?Delete any JMRI related directories outside of settings as indicated by Help -> Locations. It would probably be best if we not talk about that.............

?
Can you please tell me how to do that?

Thanks!

#dispatcher
Steve,
That is interesting that you can run Dispatcher and set it to No Signals.
What causes Dispatcher to start & stop trains where they might collide? Is it just the occupied block(s)?
?Will try it.
