Operations Pro Roster
I read that you can develop the Operations Pro roster either as a space- or comma-separated vale file.? With all the categories that can be entered, how does the space-separated file distinguish between the categories?? I take it that in the CSV file, two commas in a row would act as a place-holder? Re: Programming locos with Fleischmann Twin-Center sw ver. 2.000 and DecoderPro 4.14
Ok so I downgraded the Twin-Center to version 1.100 of the software, here are the results after some testing. The issue with the scrolling text when starting DecoderPro with track power off remained. Stopping it is still possible by toggling the power on/off switch. Running locomotives with the JMRI throttle works as expected.
Reading CVs from JMRI worked once! The relay clicked and after some reading DecoderPro came up with a list of possible detected decoders (some M?rklin and Trix models, which is ok since the locomotive I'm using for testing is equipped with a Minitrix 14 pin decoder). This is what appeared on the LocoNet window: 00:37:58.016: [EF 0E 7C 23 00 00 00 00 00 07 00 7F 7F 46] ?Byte Read in Paged Mode on Service Track: CV8.

Re: Laptop Suggestions
PennsyNut
As for IBM/Lenovo. Doesn't every computer manufacturer peek at us? Doesn't HP? Or Dell? How can anyone be sure.
Now, I own 2 Lenovo desk tops. Well, my wife owns one. Both have AMD. I also got a Dell laptop to use just for JMRI when I get around to it. So, not having personal experience to share. Let me state. The Dell has INTEL and I suppose it's because it's a laptop, even plugged in, is slow. But I did manage to download JAVA on both my desktop and on the laptop. Downloading JMRI is ? The laptop got v4.12 but hasn't been used. The desktop got v4.15 and I tried DecoderPro with no layout and quite frankly, got so frustrated and confused, I feel like I best wait until a kind guru living near me can help. My point in writing is that using a laptop for JMRI is IMHO a great idea. You can have it set up in one room and when needed, move it to the layout - if it's in another room. Or such. As for capacity, that's a personal decision. Yes, Microsoft is grabbing huge amounts every update, but ? My Lenovo is over 5 yrs old with W 10 and I have had no problems with it. You want problems, go W ME or W Vista. When they stopped supporting XP, I decided to just keep up with the updates on W 10. Now all this is meant to be helpful. In no way, do I intend to insult anyone. Morgan Bilbo, PRR fan |

Turnouts (not) updating on Panel
Hi,
Not sure if this is a stupid question or not, but I have a MERG CBUS system, I have a panel set up that can throw / close turnouts. When i use the CAB to change the point (using Short Addressing) the point changes, the turnouts table "State" changes but the point does not show the updated position / change. Is there a way to get the Panel to update the position of the turnout, when the turnout is changed outside of JMRI?? (when manually clicking on the state button in the turnout table, this does update the panel) Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Tim |

Re: Blocks not working properly
Alberto,
Sounds like the sensors in the sensor table are not matching the BDL and the LT5 indication. So if you only have one thing on the track (loco) and it is moving, do you get a change in the sensor table (click on the column header for active/inactive, it will sort them so any active move up) by seeing a sensor change to active when it enters and leaves the block? Next trick is to open the LocoNet->LocoNet Monitor, it will show the traffic. To simplify things, slide the loco between two blocks, this should give messages of a sensor going active and inactive. Let's use this to figure out which sensor should be changing. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.com www.syracusemodelrr.org |

There are two RailDriver items in the "Debug" menu: "RailDriver (built in)" and "RailDriver". The 2nd one is the original¡ it doesn't work with macOS; the 1st one doesn't want to work with Windows. Try ether on Linux.

Throttle operating in reverse
Hi All, before changing motor wires find out how the real railroad ran their Diesels. For instance I have a Milwaukee Road SD 7 which came from Proto 2000 wired to run long hood forward which is how the railroad ran it.

Re: Blocks not working properly
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýNo joy Ken all that happens is that it just switches around or stays active, I even tried playing around with the active inactive button, I basically have to manually turn active and inactive depending on what block it is in. The only thing that works is assigning the block in the layout according to which block lights up, when the train is in the block that does not. I don¡¯t know how that will work when I do my signal logics. Sent from for Windows 10 ? From: Alberto Allen via Groups.Io

Cannot read, but can write, with Decoder Pro
I have been using DecoderPro for several years and purchased a new loco today then direct up DecoderPro to add it into the stable, and whilst DecoderPro shows me as connected to the Z21 with the green statements down the bottom and it will identify and existing loco I cannot add a new loco.
when I try to add a new loco the page display showing the list of decoder by I cannot read decoder type as the button is greyed out. I also notice that if I place a loco that is already in the programme whilst DecoderPro will read and identify the loco when I open the pages for said loco the option to read sheet or all sheets from the loco is also greyed out though the ability to write changes to sheet or all sheets is available and working. i updated tonight to the latest bpversion of JMRI to ensure that were wasn't an issue (previous version was about 6 month old) but the issue is still the same. what am I doing wrong - can anyone tell me please. This programme is too valuable and useful not to be able to use it. iain |

Re: Programming locos with Fleischmann Twin-Center sw ver. 2.000 and DecoderPro 4.14
Good evening Bob
This is interesting, actually I noticed that the traces read "Uhlenbrock IB-COM / Intellibox II" just after I sent the message and I was surprised since I know that the Twin-Center is nothing more than a rebranded Intellibox I... Is there a version 1 that works differently? As I wrote on my first message my Twin-Center was on the previous software version 1.1 when I first tried it with JMRI many years ago, but I have never tested the old firmware with the latest production version of DecoderPro. But if you need later I can downgrade it back to 1.1 and try see what happens :) How have you got your JMRI connection and command station options set?I followed the instructions for the "Direct serial connection" on the for the Intellibox/Twin-Center. |

Re: Continued ECoS Issues...think I am near a solution. It is the ECoSDetector RC 4 ports
I¡¯ve never seen documentation of the ECoS protocol.I believe you will find that it is the same as the protocol for the original Marklin central station, as ESU made that for Marklin, then came out with their own unit, which shared many features with the Marklin one. I provided a google translation of the original Marklin documentation which allowed the JMRI team to get the original connection to the Marklin cs1 done, and I believe that was then expanded to the ESU unit. |

Throttle operating in reverse
I'm currently operating 5 engines on my railroad using JMRI 4.14, NCE SB5 USB interface v 7 and lastest java release.? Added a new engine, but for some reason the JMRI throttle doen't work as expected.? When I select forward the train actually goes in reverse and visa versa.? The other 5 engineer behave properly ..throttle selection forward - train goes forward.? I have tried the engine on various part of the railroad each time testing the other engines on the same piece of track.? Same result.? This has to be something embarrassingly simple to fix, but I can't seem to.? All I've done with the new engine is read the CVs from the factory to create the engine profile.? I've even tried to reset the CVs to factory settings.. no dice. Other than reversed throttle direction, the engine behaves as it should. Any suggestions?
Thanks Norb? ? |
