Re: BD20 block detection
Don't let it get you down, you are making progress, it's always a learning process. I too have been overwhelmed. I took a six year hiatus due to 'health' reasons, and have found that 'Raspberry Pi and Arduino" is just a big mystery to me. Bought an arduino kit and now understand that you can make just about anything. It would help if users said 'my arduino crossing gates", but I can't even consider this part of the hobby at this time.. Take small steps, walk away for a while, have a beverage or three and try again slowly in the morning. We have all been where you are now, keep your chin up and your mouth closed in case there are birds.

Injecting a delay between turnout operations
NCE PowerCab with USB, JMRI 4.12, Java 1.8.1, UK equipment mixed Cobalt and Guagemaster Turnout motors, Train Tech signals,
I have a Layout Panel which does what is expected "on the screen" and the correct NCE commands are sent out (i.e. the turnouts and signals change state on the screen and the JMRI NCE Command Monitor reflects the commands I would expect to appear.? However it all happens in a rush.? At times turnout operations get missed out ON THE LAYOUT - i.e the commands are there but somehow they overrun each other or "get lost" in the traffic (I think power draw on the accessory bus is also a factor). Also signals change before turnouts have completed their movements (a no-no in 12" to the foot terms). I had a similar experience when I automated my system using NCE Mini-panels.? In that case (despite arguments from many that it should not be necessary) I programmed delays into the panel logic to ensure time between key changes, and that all turnouts could complete before the command to change a signal was issued. I have searched JMRI documentation and this forum and can find nothing to help me - probably because I don't know how to put the question to the search engines. Can anybody help please? Wouter gave me a great link Tina photo of the USB interface but for the life of me I can't find the Jumpers on it! He gave a link to Tony's Trains.
When I study mine under a magnifying glass I am still unable to see anything that looks like it can be switched. There are little black boxes with numbers like 271.? Is it the 8 pins that stick up that I believe I took a plastic case off when I bought it? It says SETUP right next to it. It is next to the LED near the curly cord. I? AIU,have theset the AIU's to 8 and 9 WiThrottle is working. NCE show cabs keeps coming up error. Baud rate is 9600 All preference Defaults are NCE |

Re: BD20 block detection
The COM port isn't bad according to the log you posted. You are just missing those jumpers.

I suggest you forget about changing the address of the NCE USB. Take all jumpers off, change baud rate back to 9600 and it should all start working again, WiThrottle, Show Cabs, etc. If not, check Preferences->Defaults and make sure everything is set to NCE and nothing to Internal. Then please try changing the AIUs to 8 and 9 using the DIP switches: - AIU 8 is Switch 4 Off, all others On. - AIU 9 is Switches 1 and 4 Off, all others On. Check for changes in Show Cabs. -- Dave in Australia On 7 Nov 2018, at 7:52 PM, Richard_vanRaay via Groups.Io <richard_vanraay@...> wrote: |

The * in V7.3.* is the jumpers. You have to put jumpers 2,3,4 onto the pin pairs of the NCE USB.

Re: BD20 block detection
Hi everyone, I am sorry to trouble you all again but I am really down. No idea what I am doing and seriously regretting going down this path of DCC controlling Ppoints and installing blocks but all the money is invested and it is slowly progressing. I am trying to follow all of your advice and I seriously appreciate how much time you are putting in to helping out a silly bugger you don't even know.
The upgade chip is installed and I changed the baud rate to 19200. Powercab control is working but no WiThrottle. I see 7.3.0 in the console log. I don't know where to find the connection preference to change it to 7.3.*?? I assume it must be on the very first Edit/Preferences page. NCE? information shows the new AIU I connected in series last night and gave the address of 5 to. I understand these addresses should be changed , but first I want to get the wiThrottle working again. CAB 3 Usb interface Cab 4? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýPaul Two months ago a? gave a clinic on Decoder Pro. This was a "Hands
On" Clinic where those attending were in "paired" with a friend
for the clinic. The clinic took 4 hours - 2 in the morning then a
break for 1 hour for refreshments then another 2 hours. Each pair
had a system set up on the table so they could try things out as
the clinic progressed. For this clinic I put together some notes - with plenty of explanations. Those who attend (20 of them) had either a Sprog or an NCE system, with a laptop - all Windows. As I knew everyone in the clinic, their layouts, and roughly the skills the notes were 'tailored' to suit. I have put the notes (20 pages) on the web for anyone to download and read. The notes were written in Australian but should translate easy enough to American or English. May or may not be of help. Gerry On 7/11/2018 1:45 pm, Paul Davidson
