Re: Roster addition
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýJerry,
You were told about how to read and save what is on the decoder. I do it even with brand new engines just in case the defaults in the code don¡¯t match what is on the decoder. Then I start doing my changes and writing to the decoder.?
You have to create an entry filling in the first tab with things like name etc. Unless you do a write to the decoder you don¡¯t change things. The advice you received was to then do a read of the decoder. You can do that by page
or read all option. Then save the data.?

I have thought about the answers I have received and find they donot explain the methodology to accomplish this program.Instead of extracting info from the decoder to the locomotive I want to extract the programming currently in the decoder and duplicate it in JMRI..For instance do i? start by clicking on? New decoder.? I am reluctant to proceed until I am sure of where I am going. I do not want to lose my current programming. I did read the CV full sheet and and all CVs read 123 Jerry Hampton.? |

Thanks for the reply I was interested in your comment PTB 100. SoundTraxx makes a statement that PTB 100 is not required. when programming. When you speak about Read Changes on Sheet you are speaking about sheets other than the CVS? |

You have discovered an error in the double head signal mast definition.

I have uploaded a fixed file that you can use. /g/jmriusers/files/ProblemsBeingWorkedOn/Miguelay/appearance-two-searchlight.xml Download the file. Start PanelPro, select "Help >> Locations", click on "Open Program Location¡±. This will open your file manager at the correct location. You will need to expand xml, signals and then basic. Replace the existing appearance-two-searchlight.xml file with the downloaded one. Dave Sand On Sep 6, 2018, at 3:01 PM, miguelay@... wrote: |

Re: Loco Motor cuts out at around 30% full throttle
Thanks Nigel and Richard, it was the speed steps which were set wrongly, changing to 128 has solved the problem. Incidentally I changed it from the SPROG Consol.

Panel cannot create sensors
Win 10 (current updates)
Java 1.8.0_181 PR3 DCS200 PP 4.12,? 4.8 and 4.2.1? (yes I tried all three with the same results. Trying to move JMRI control from a desktop to to a laptop. The desktop is running Win 10 Java 1.8.0 and JMRI 4.12 PR3 DCS200 JMRI on the laptop connects to the layout and I can turn power on/off, run engines etc.? So I am pretty sure the connection is ok. Moved the panel from the desktop to the laptop and ran it under Digitrax, loconet simulator.? The panel loads and runs correctly. So I assume the panel migrated correctly. Connect to the layout and attempt to load the panel.?? "WARNING could not open/create prefs at root....error code 5." "Could not create sensor xxx" Then repeats for all sensors. I'm suspecting some sort of WIN 10 error but not sure where to look/fix. Thanks in advance for any ideas/guidance _Ernie |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWhat Nigel said, me to. Hover over throttle? slider, right click Show speed steps, OK Change speed steps Hover over throttle, right click Change to slider, hit OK. From memory, this has been happening now for a few years, not
sure how to fix it permanently. Hopefully someone will tell us
how. Rick. On 9/6/2018 3:56 PM, Nigel Cliffe

Re: two throttles on screen at one time
Paxton58,
Are you talking about multiple throttles on a machine running JMRI? JMRI can have as many Throttle windows as you want! I've had more than 50 on the screen at one time. Or are you talking about a mobile device running EngineDriver or WiThrottle? That is beyond my knowledge, and will leave that to those who have direct knowledge. Regards, Billybob |

New to JMRI, installed and crashes
Now that my turnout Arduino work has progressed to the working point, I am turning some attention to getting DCC++ up and running.?
So far, I have DCC++ working on an Arduino UNO and the motor shield and power supply working bas on the tests I have learned from a YouTube video.? So my next step was to get JMRI up and running on a Window 7 Dell laptop and it has been a bit of an exercise in frustration. The following is what I have done: 1- downloaded and installed Java SE 1.8 from Java.com 2- tested Java at the command prompt by typing Java -version? 3- showed Java 1.8 was installed.? 4- downloaded and installed JMRI 4.12 which is thee latest production version.? Up to this point all seemed to work well.? 5- with and without the DCC++ bade station plugged in the the laptop, I started JMRI Panel Pro. 6- it started up with a dialog box asking for a name.? 7- I selected the default which I can¡¯t remember the name of. 8- a small JMRI slash screen comes up for a few seconds then disappears.? 9- IT CRASHES AND NOTHING FURTHER HAPPENS.? 10- I NEED HELP!!! I also have tried starting Decoder Pro and nothing happens.? Any thoughts??? |

Yes... I've seen JMRI on a central control station have 10 throttles opened so one "engineer" was controlling 10 trains parading around a large club layout.
Spotters with FRS radios would call in to speed up or slow down a given train... Odd to my taste, but an example of a lot of open throttles. Jim Albanowski |

two throttles on screen at one time
Is it possible to have more than one throttle displayed on the computer screen at one time?? when I switch between throttles, one gets minimized and I would like to have two on the screen at one time when adjusting speeds.?? Appreciate all of the help I have received while trying to learn decoderpro.? Finally feel that I pretty much have it under control!!!!!!!!!!!

Double Signal Mast fails when turnout and X-over are thrown
I'm a beginner building a testing bench to learn and test JMRI functionalities, how it works with DCC++ over and Arduino Mega, testing better placement for sensors and signals, ¡ prior to build the complete layout. ? The enviroment I'm working on is: ? PC: ASUS Intel Core i3-7100 CPU @ 3.90GHz 8GB RAM, Windows 10 Home, Java 1.8,0_181-b13 JMRI - version 4.12 + Rb6a9bb1 (previously 4.10 with the same trouble) Arduino Mega - as base station comander (trouble also occurs with System Connection DCC++ Simulator) Arduino Nano - as decoder for Accessories (trouble also occurs with System Connection DCC++ Simulator) ? Ascii art for my simplified testing bench: ? 11 < sssssssss >> 3333 < uuuuuuu > < aaaaaa >> 111 < bbbbbbbb > 2222 << ccccccc > ? 3333 and 2222 represent 2 diferent blocks for an X-Over (I'm not sure if it is the correct ascii art representation) ? All seems to works fine except when turnout and X-over are thrown, in wich case the left double head mast shows clear aspect for straight route and stop aspect for diverging route. ? I played with the layout uploaded by Dave Sand last May 29, removing elements and adding three end bumpers, making both layouts identical, and surprise ¡. it works completely well!!. So, I'm doing somthing wrong. ? I know, using Dave Sand's file the problen is over, but I would like to use my own system and user names, and over all, I would like to know what I'm doing wrong. ? I will try to upload my XML file to the JMRIusers files area (not sure if it's posible as new user), ? Others minor problems: - Error message from System Console before opening panels, just PanelPro: 2018-09-06 12:44:36,119 managers.JmriUserPreferencesManager ERROR - Unable to retrieve property "windowRectangle2D" for window "jmri.jmrit.display.layoutEditor.LayoutEditor:My Layout" [AWT-EventQueue-0] - It's not possible to remove a turnout item on the turnout table. Deleting from the table it disappears but it appears when booting again. ? I would appreciate any suggestion. ? Miguel |
