Locked Re: Decoder Pro returns 123 for all decoder settings

Bob,
The LocoBuffer-USB runs at 57.6Kb. I'm not sure where you might have seen 125,000. However as long as you have 'LocoBuffer-USB' selected in JMRI, then the baud rate is locked to the correct value, so you don't need to worry about that. (be sure it is 'LocoBuffer-USB', not 'LocoBuffer').

This error is typical for incorrect defaults settings. Be sure that they are all set to 'LocoNet' and then saved. (then upgrade to 4.12)

Dick :)

The other possibility (which hardly ever happens by mistake, but you never know) is that you are using the simulator. That, too, makes all requests return 123.

Absolutely forget about baudrate. This is either something set to internal that shouldn't be, or a simulator connection. Nothing else fits the symptom.

Locked Re: New layouts of same railroad

George,

From the main PanelPro menu, select "Tools >> Tables >> any table¡±. From the table menu select "Store >> Store Configuration Only To File¡¡±. This will write the table contents without any panels.

Multiple panels are not an issue.

Keep in mind that the Layout Editor is NOT a CAD program. It has no concept of area or scale. You can approximate the concepts by setting the "Primary Grid Size" to the desired pixels per inch and the "Secondary Grid Size" to 12 (inches per foot). Adjusting a turnout image to match the length and angle of a #6 turnout will be a challenge.

Generally a Layout Editor panel represents either a logical or physical view of the layout. The logical view is normally a horizontal line from end to end (typically staging). The physical view normally includes all of the major curves and represents how the layout looks in the room.

I recommend that you update JMRI to 4.12. There are a lot of fixes and changes, especially in the Layout Editor.

Locked Re: JMRI Jython programming question

Here's an illustration of what I'm trying to do...

Below is a table I made of JMRI Throttle Speed settings that are mapped to the 126 speed steps. What I want to know is what JMRI Throttle speed value do I pick so that I'm exactly selecting one of the 28 speed table entries in the decoder and not one of the ones that the decoder is interpolating? You can see from the example, there's four choices of the 128 step table that maps to '1' of the 28 speed steps. Which one does the decoder use?

JMRI Throttle Speed 28 Speed Step 128 Speed Step
0.0000 0.0000 0
0.0079 1.0000 1
0.0159 1.0000 2
0.0238 1.0000 3
0.0317 1.0000 4
0.0397 2.0000 5
0.0476 2.0000 6
0.0556 2.0000 7
0.0635 2.0000 8
0.0714 2.0000 9

Locked Re: Why are the function fields blank in decoder pro?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

The Function Key labels are not stored in the decoder so neither JMRI nor LokProgrammer can determine them. They are only stored in the ESU Sound File (or the derived ESU bulletin).

Thanks Klaus!

I was thinking along these lines as my workaround. I'm messing about with speed tables and I want to make sure I can select each of the 28 entries in that table. I will try the scaling approach, but I need a way to verify the actual value being sent to the decoder. There's also the issue of how the decoder does the mapping but that will have to be an experiment...

The prime mover is always slot 1. The others may vary from project to project but are easy to find with Program on Main.

Horn or bell settings can be set on the Sound pane by either "Sound Configuration Value" ?or the individual settings in the line below.

Your information key (what value is what) is the ESU bulletin for the project. But if you change these (CV48)with POM you need to power-cycle the decoder. This is the only
CV that doesn't take immediate effect in POM.

I'm afraid that LokProgrammer cannot read the sound slot names from a Select Decoder either. If you know the project name, you can find the sound slot names from the ESU Bulletin for that project on the ESU website.

As far as programming decoder settings (CV programming) goes, JMRI can do everything LokProgrammer can do with a Select.

But you need a LokProgrammer to load new sound files into a V4 or Select. The panes are quite similar and the best reference for JMRI programming of V4/Select decoders is Phil Dunlop's excellent unofficial LokProgrammer V4 manual available for download in the Files Area of the LokSound group (still on Yahoo). There are also a couple of other JMRI help documents there as well.

As far as the slot names in a Select are concerned, you either find the ESU bulletin for the project file or use trial and error. This applies to both LokProgrammer and JMRI, but it's a lot easier in JMRI because you can do it live with Program on Main. (LokProgrammer does not support Program on Main).
