Mike,

For the program to be reserving track space, there has to be a built train.? I would expect the built train to terminate into staging using the track that has the reserve value of 192 feet.

From your description, it is not clear that you created the turnouts in JMRI.? The fact that the PowerCab can control them does not mean that JMRI can until you have created entries in the Turnout table with the correct accessory addresses.

Dennis,

If the dispatcher had access to the JMRI panel, there are train icons that he could use to understand train length and number of cars in the train.? With regards to "Call Time", I don't have much experience with trains running on schedule.

Hi Bob,

I use PanelPro a LOT but I have not loaded Version 14.8 or higher on my system yet. The current version I am using is 14.7.4.?

Since you mention "pallets", may I guess that your are using Layout Editor. Have you tried changing to using the Panel Editor ?

I say that only because I have a friend that built his panel with Layout editor and I worked on some modifications using my system and Panel Editor . When I loaded his panel onto my system (same operating system) I was getting a lot of errors because of the file locations in my preferences vs his. When I used Panel Editor, they went away.

Locked Ignoring track lengths #operationspro

Hi
?Since upgrading to the latest version, JMRI seem to be ignoring track lengths. My latest build has a staging track that is 500', used is 478' and it is reserving 192 more feet. this is not the first train build to do this. There are no other trains built and an not using planned pickups.

thanks
Mike

Locked Re: NCE SwitchKat and JMRI Need assistance #enginedriver

Hi Andy,
Can you throw the switches from JMRI using Tools, Turnout Control?

If so, then the easiest way to control those turnouts from EngineDriver is to define them in JMRI using Tools, Tables, Turnouts. Include? meaningful UserNames. Use File, Store to save that list as a file. Add that file to the Edit, Preferences, Startup to load each time you start JMRI. EngineDriver will then show them in its Turnout list.

An alternative is to enter them manually in EngineDriver. You'll need to enable "Turnout Creation" in Edit, Preferences, WiThrottle, Allowed Controls, to allow this.

Locked NCE SwitchKat and JMRI Need assistance #enginedriver

Good morning, I already spoke with NCE and they really could not assist me. So now I am turning to you good folks. This actually involves 3 parts. The NCE SwitchKat, JMRI and EngineDriver on my phone. When using my Powercab I can program and use the SwitchKat to throw the Kato switches. Works as advertised. When I moved to the Phone running via JMRI the switches don't show up under the turnout page. They are DCC and they are given accessory addresses. It appears to be a JMRI issue, What am I doing wrong or what do I need to do to get it to show up under "turnouts" on my engine Driver

I think I found the Firefox problem, new PR shortly.

Also, did I get the MavinsHills-layoutPanel-29.xml sample file from you? The definition of IF$tsm:BR-2003:3($0005) seems to have an error in how it¡¯s ¡°Danger¡± appearance is defined.

Most of the masts are like:

Proceed: SMT-1-TownA-P = thrown
Caution: SMT-1-TownA-C = thrown
Danger: SMT-1-TownA-D = thrown

but that one is

Proceed: SMT-1-Halt-P = thrown
Caution: SMT-1-Halt-C = thrown
Danger: SMT-1-Halt-P = thrown

(note the last -P)

In Firefox my Blocks display is still "shifted". I've tried "Preferences-Clear Data" but to no avail. However, in Opera it looks fine. I'm thinking there's some cached item still floating around in Firefox. I'll try it on another machine when I get the chance.

Using this made me think something similar for the tag ids xml would be really good....

I cannot duplicate either of these crashes, so it's very hard to verify potential fixes.
What would be perfect is if you could describe a repeatable scenario where one or both occur, so that I can then repeat those steps and see the error.
It would also be helpful to get the session.log file after a session where one or both of these errors occurred. You can email them to me or post them online.

Happy to add ID tags, but I don¡¯t have a sample file that shows the kinds of things that appear. Is there one somewhere?

I¡¯ll add block length. (I¡¯m not just displaying all the content for some items, because there are a _lot_ of things that never seem to change)

Firefox looks OK to me, but of course there are lots of versions, I might not be looking for the right thing, etc. You could try a shift-reload.

Sorry for my confusion -What am I looking for to verify that I have duplicated the original crash, a specific error code of some kind?

I think the earlier crash may be related to 6-7 users at once - at least that was true when I captured it.

I will try to duplicate the results from the reboot scenario.

Restarting the client results in a quasi-connected state on the phone. The screen changes from the "connect" screen to the throttle screen, but it is non functional - for example you are not able to acquire a DCC address, or toggle the layout power, and the web server option does not appear.

Locked Operations Feature Request #operationspro

Hi Everyone,

A while back I was dispatching at the layout of a friend that is using a JMRI US&S CTC panel as well as JMRI Operations.? Everything went well but the idea came to me that having a lineup of trains would help the dispatcher.? The freight agent that generates the manifests is in another room and delivers the manifest to the train crews as they're generated but the dispatcher doesn't see a copy.? The dispatcher doesn't need to know what cars go where but it would be nice to know things like work locations, power assigned (if available), but most importantly the train length and call time.? Train length is needed to allow the dispatcher to plan meets where trains will fit since not all sidings are the same length, and call time so the dispatcher knows what's coming.? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Ken,

I would have preferred to let JMRI delete the heads; as you say, one character ...... Backup, backup, backup.

Any ideas as to why the delete button did not work? At the time, the issue with the heads was out of sequence turnout addresses in the initial setup. JMRI appeared to allow the initial setup, including SSLs, but, apparently, removed the SSLs on reboot.

Thanks,

I've found that resorting to manual (edit the file outside of JMRI) to
remove signal heads was seldom needed. But to clear out all the SSL, I've
found it the only true way a number of times.

But you must be very exact when doing that type of edit. One character left

Bob,

It is entirely likely that others on this list are having the same difficulties that I do. Bluntly, there is not enough information provided to surmise what kind of help can be suggested.

Please read very carefully the requested information message and provide at least a copy of the text in your jmri/log/session.log file or a copy of the text in your "JMRI System Console" window using Cut and Paste but not as an attached file.

There are three Panel Editors that are commonly used and a fourth Editor that I have no experience with. Identifying which Editor you are using goes a long way toward how one of the members can couch a response to your question. Your mention of signal heads and pallets suggest that you might be having trouble with Layout Editor.

Looking forward to your added information.
