Re: [IC-7000] Send CW via FLDIGI or other...
I consider "cheating" using anything but a straight key.

Re: [IC-7000] Send CW via FLDIGI or other...
Strictly speaking, I'd class either way as cheating, though receiving would be more so. :) > -- 73 de Tony VK3JED/VK3IRL http://vkradio.com

Umm, tell that to the rest of the world, the sky hasn't fallen in where mode restrictions have long been removed, CW is alive and well in this part of the world. Traditional CW has one trait that no

One "kit" source that will do the job: http://w3yy.com/fsk.htm I haven't built it, but the reviews on "eHam.net" are excellent. At a higher price-point, there's the K1EL "Winkeyer USB":

Re: [IC-7000] Send CW via FLDIGI or other...
de WB2CPN There is a misconception about what CW is. CW is a carrier that's keyed on and off. A single RF carrier, without any AM or FM on it. (MCW is an AM signal.) That's what a CW key does to the

Re: [IC-7000] Send CW via FLDIGI or other...
With regulation by bandwidth, say goodbye to CW (and PSK31 won't even exist!) Don't be afraid to pick up a key. It's just like "computer illiterate" where most of the problem is based on being

And another data point. According to you, anyone who ran/runs CW on a FT-7 was/is also operating illegally. Check the schematic of the FT-7 one day, you'll find an audio oscillator keyed by the key,

Re: [IC-7000] Send CW via FLDIGI or other...
And how would anyone know? This is the sheer craziness of mode based regulation. A pure tone in a SSB transmitter can also be considered an IF at audio frequencies followed by an image reject mixer.

Re: [IC-7000] Send CW via FLDIGI or other...
The Signalink sends data through sideband phone, so you would not be sending CW, but MCW, which is illegal below 50 MHz. -- -73, Dan K3DRQ FISTS #13110, SKCC #4493T, EPC #20322

Re: [IC-7000] Send CW via FLDIGI or other...
Well, one could argue what "true CW" is. Afterall, keying a tone into a SSB radio is the same thing, except that the first IF is at audio frequencies, and the first mixer is image rejecting. :) The

Re: Send CW via FLDIGI or other...
There may be a way to send a form of CW with audio tones, but it's far easier to send with another device. I use a RigBlaster Plug-n-play from West Mountain Radio for CI-V, CW and sound card digital

John, I can use CW with my rigexpert standard interface and pc. There is a cw jack on the cable. Just got to ensure the radio is set for straight key rather than paddle

Billy
GM0OBX
Send CW via FLDIGI or other...
Is there a way to send CW on the 7000 via software like FLDIGI, WinWarbler, etc? I thought I have seen that some will send a ?tone? via SSB, but is there a way to send a true CW signal out while

Re: [IC-7000] RE: icom 7000 book for dummies
I do not know if the earlier models of the 7K work on 60 meters, but the manual with mine gives a rather complicated way of getting there, and the radio will only tune to those channels, so there is
