Re: IC-7000 to MFJ-4416c and HSEND?
Hi Michael I had a 4416 in my crew cab truck hooked to my 7K with the radio body, booster box, and independent battery 100A AGM (much less noise)? in a radio box I made in my locked?canopy, and the control heads for both at the driver's seat.? To spare the radio battery I went into the control head of MFJ 4416 and installed two small micro switches on the left side to shut off power to the control head and to the control unit in the rear. The power booster would not output power unless both the (power booster always on the red button ) was pushed and both of the micro switches were on.? Having the two switches I could see the difference in voltage between no booster and with the booster.? ?I added a third micro switch to the right side to control the lights in the meters so they were not always on.? (saving battery I hoped).?? ?It has been working for many years till the truck was retired and I plan to install the setup in my Ford Edge under the rear seat with the control heads on an? 8" drawer slide, out of sight until needed.? The only thing that will be seen is my dual-band antenna on the roof and the HF antenna mount behind the rear tire on the passenger side. Good luck,? Hope you get your working, 73 David? NA7DP? ? |
IC-7000 to MFJ-4416c and HSEND?
Hello All,?
I want to connect my 7000 to an MFJ-4416C voltage booster's keying circuit so I don't have to leave the booster ON - It generates rolling switching noise when just left on.? Anywho, my other radios have a SEND RCA plug that goes to ground to key an amp, but the 7000 has an HSEND and the manual shows it as an input and output, so I don't want to do something stupid and let the smoke out.
?
I would have thought all I needed to do would be connect the HSEND to either pin 1 or 2 on the 4416, but looking for confirmation.? I don't care to use the VSEND for anything because this is my HF mobile, and I've got a separate VHF/UHF rig.
?
Any suggestions, confirmations, or cautions welcome.

For Sale - ICOM 7000 :(
It is with a heavy heart that I am looking to sell my IC7000 -?
This was my NPOTA rig? - and it performed flawlessly.? ?Unfortunately I no longer have time for POTA and the radio is just sitting idle.? That is no way for an IC-7000 to live.? This isn't my only HF rig, just wanting to downsize a bit, and have someone get some use out of this radio.? ?
?
It comes with the original box, manual, head separation cable, MB-105 mounting bracket? and the original HM-151.? The mic was modified by AB5N prior to my purchase (from a local ham I know).? It is the Mic we used during NPOTA/POTA and we had nothing but great audio reports.? It also has the carry handle installed.? ??
?
The radio is very clean both of its owners are non smoking? - photos? attached.. more if you want.??

Re: PA board
开云体育Hi Reg Once the burnt area has been cleaned you can get an idea of ??how to proceed. I'll tell you how I did it : If there are no SMD components in the area (or even a few of them) but only discrete ones, you can use a little rasp to make a nice hole (hi) and remove the entire burned part of the PCB. Then use a piece of copper-plated fiberglass on one side, make holes to place the discrete components (the coil for example); the copper side goes towards the drain of the mosfet so as to have a strong and stable soldering; basically rebuild all the links that were blown away. It may seem unprofessional but I assure you that between the
abundant welds and the metal screen the job will also be well done
aesthetically and above all you will recover a radio that you
cannot use on VHF Once you have made all the connections and verified the connections, redo the bias and try everything again. With this technique (shaping a piece of copper PCB in the hole) I repaired 2 boards, one of an ICOM-PW1 and a final stage of an ICOM-775, they have never given more problems. It's an attempt you can make. Let us know about your repair. 73s, Pasquale IW0HEX

speaker should work. The one you pictured should work fine. I generally hit Goodwill and grab a pair of bookshelf speakers as they work to hold up a shelf as well. Typically around $5 for a pair and they sound great. If they don't have an audio cable with 3.5mm plug on the end at Goodwill, you can usually get them at Walmart. Re: PA board
开云体育Hi the situation is very hard ! On solder side I think there is an opportunity but I have no idea
with the damage in other side ! You should to clean the other side well and to do some other photos to understand if there is a space to fix ! If the area is full of SMDs component, it's very hard to fix, the situation is very very difficult. Please, if you can of course, try to do other photos of other
side (side with coil) ; before clean well . Thanks 73s Pasquale IW0HEX Il 16/09/2024 15:05, Reg Du Toit ha
