Why do they need my credit card if the download is free? Did I leave the fish out of the freezer or is it something else I smell? On Nov 23, 2013 6:43 PM, "brian mackey" <brian.mackey@...> wrote:

I don't have the link handy but you can download it right from the Icom site. That's where I got mine.

Tony,
Can you send me a link for that PDF user guide? the one I have is un searchable.... it seems that someone just scanned it and convert it to PDF so it's like an image and you can't search for a text within it. Hi I am new to this group I have problems with no ssb on tx
Hi I am new to this group my name is Helen Vk3ry
I have lost SSB upper and lower on my rig. I have been able to track the lack of TX down to the 1st IF? my thoughts it may be the processor, the rig is quite happy on am fm Rtty and good on ex. it implies the Dac is ok too,alc indicates very high alc although there is no alc voltage. I sure I am not the only one with this prob? ? ? ?? Any one with similar experience? KInd regards Helen VK3RY лл |
Re: AGC setting?????
Slow for SSB and CW
Medium if there are large static crashes Fast for digital modes If you listen to an SSB QSO with fast AGC, you can tell right away how annoying the background noise is. Randy ---In ic7000@..., <tomnagy@...> wrote: Could someone go over the function of the different AGC settings??

Slow is best for ssb or slow cw. Fast is best for am, fm, and fast cw. AGC keeps the receiver at a continuous gain for certain modes. Slow decay is where I keep it unless I am on am. On Nov 21, 2013 9:59 AM, "W3TLN" <tomnagy@...> wrote:

Trollp strikes again, but he is right. If you really want to get something out of it, put it up for auction. Like a car, the value drops by about a half once you drive it off the lot. I like my 7k. On Nov 20, 2013 9:42 PM, "BT Yahoo!?2013" <robert.farey@...> wrote:

Re: [IC-7000] CW Mode
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe filters are not the crystal or mechanical filters we are used to in
most earlier radios but defined in software by the DSP system. This allows the
control of the pass band and shape of the filter by the operator. There will be
some leakage due to the limitations of the DSP to completely block out of pass
band signals as there is with the older style discrete filters. The sound of the
filters will be a bit different too due to the way the DSP works.
The sharp edges will have a slightly different sound to the rounded edges
and will also react differently to noise and type of signal. This really up to
yhr operator to decide which sounds best in the condition to them. I have
difficulty deciding which is best as to my ears. The shape does not alter the
bleed through much as the bleed through is determined more by the skirts and how
deep they go down before the digital system can not block the out of band
noise.
As DSP systems improve, then we can look forward to better performance but
nothings perfect and the IC7000 is one of the earlier affordable radios using
this filter system.

Could someone go over the function of the different AGC settings??This isn't really an IC-7000 question, but one that holds for all operating. AGC speed is a personal thing about what you prefer. If you run it on fast all the time, you'll get tired of listening. If you run it on slow all the time, you will miss many things on fast exchange QSOs and general listening. Mine is in constant adjustment, depending on what I am listening to. Generally, the slower you can run it, the more relaxed listening you will have. But you can't do that when fast QSB is involved, or listening to stations that vary greatly in strength. It all depends on what you are using your radio for at the time, and to a certain extent, band condx. Gary -- 3055: NodeOp Help Page: |
