Re: [IC-7000] IC-7000 and it's VHF/UHF
This is analogous to the fact that a vehicle with an optimistic odometer can lead one to think it's getting better MPG's than it really is. That doesn't mean it gets from point a to point b any more

There we go - that should at least give him a general reference point to see if some button pushing screwdriver wizard was in the service menu. -- ¡¤??`¡¤.?. ,><((((?> ¡¤??`¡¤.?. , .

Re: [IC-7000] RE: IC-7000 and it's VHF/UHF
I really have not noticed a lack of sensitivity on VHF or UHF. Most repeaters are way the fook out there to begin with in my area and I have mostly used SSB on VHF and FM UHF for my repeater. ( I

Re: [IC-7000] RE: IC-7000 and it's VHF/UHF
Exactly. I've had 599 QSOs on phone where there was no s-meter reading -- just a quiet band and steady conditions. The only way to judge them is on the bench, with calibrated equipment. This

Re: [IC-7000] RE: IC-7000 and it's VHF/UHF
Many conceptions that the 7000 has "poor sensitivity" is because the S-meter is calibrated more realistically, compared to may other radios on the market, who's S-meters give extremely liberal S-meter

Re: IC-7000 and it's VHF/UHF
Steve..., You can check out the links below and see how it is a known issue that the radio has poor sensitivity on 2m/440 http://www.eham.net/ehamforum/smf/index.php?topic=63406.0;wap2

Re: [IC-7000] RE: Hiden menu factory defaults.
You beat me to saying that. There is no one size fits all default settings for the service menu settings. Its all adjusted per radio. It is, however, quite easy to "calibrate" the radio using mostly

Re: Hiden menu factory defaults.
There aren't "factory defaults" as far as I know. Each radio is adjusted using calibrated test equipment. I do have a spreadsheet where I recorded the values for two radios. The next time I go to the

Are you referring to the amplified click of the PTT switch in the hand mic when compression is enabled? In the Files area see 7K PTT Spike with Compression.doc for RF envelope showing the problem,

Re: IC-7000 and it's VHF/UHF
I just don't see the problem here. I have an FT-8800 and access to several TM-V71A's to compare to my two 7K's. There are several repeaters that are marginal coverage for my area. Doing an A/B test

Re: IC-7000 and it's VHF/UHF
This is all good information Steve. However...., the fact remains. The VHF/UHF on the IC-7000 is NOT as good as most 2m/440 mobile rigs. This fact eats at my very core! That's why I brought it up

Hiden menu factory defaults.
After having a few strange problems with a second hand radio I have a feeling the hidden menu may have been altered does any one know of the factory defaults that I could use as a reference point.
