Just some info...
Purchased a new FT 817 @ Dayton this year. I found extremely low Tx
power & Tx audio only in the USB & LSB modes (all bands & both front
and rear antenna). Checked SWR, changed

New FT-817
FWIW, I got around to opening the FT-817 I purchased at Dayton
(shipped to my home) today and noted two things.
First, the ferrite bead is now part of the accessories.
Second, the 7240 kHz birdie

CAT CTCSS programming info
The user guide is less than helpful when it comes to knowing
how to send a CTCSS Tone to the FT-817.
The Opcode command chart lists:

I just got my AD-1YM adapter and have hooked up my Heil Pro-5 and it
works fine. I am a little unhappy at the adapter gymnastics for the 1/4"
stero off the headset, but I added a Rat Shack right angle

Re: Simple FT-817 interface
Yes, Yaesu has. It's compact, well built, inexpensive, and guaranteed to not
blow up your rig. It has the proper connectors on it. CT-62 is the model and
it's $30

Re: MP-1 / AP-10A / antenna mounting hardware for FT817
Hi John,
I believe what Bonnie was asking me was if the B&W coil could be
mounted in place of the MP-1 coil. That is the reason for the 1/4-20
to 3/8-24 converter.
I forgot to mention that the

For those not in the know....
The MFJ is really a transmitter of abt 10mw .... If your using an
antenna for multi-band with a manual tuner, the MFJ makes it very easy
to setup for TX on the bands

How about an MFJ 910? I believe this is a small box with fixed caps that
can be switched to aid in finding a good match. Usually mounts at or
near the base.

Or, to drill out the hole and tap 3/8-24. Should be enough
stock left for that (though I think I'd prefer not to do it
with a hand drill).
Getting back to the bigger topic, though, as
