I know the MFJ 259 is a diagnostic SWR reader, but how do you tune an
antenna with it?
For those not in the know....
The MFJ is really a transmitter of abt 10mw .... If your using an
antenna for multi-band with a manual tuner, the MFJ makes it very easy
to setup for TX on the bands without QRM.
With a 2-way switch inline (radio/MFJ), you switch to the MFJ, set the
freq desired for operation on the MFJ unit, adjust the antenna tuner
till the MFJ shows the best SWR match. Switch over to the radio which is
on the same freq , the tuner is already to go!
The whole process takes a very short time and you'll be certain the
radio sees a good match.

PS and yes, it is bigger than most QRP radios, but this works for any
output power withpout an auto-tuner and there are times when you lug all
the gear along; like field day! :)
