Memory and Group Management
I would be interested in hearing how members are using the 817nds memory and group categories. I understand that you have 10 groups and each group can hold 20 memories. As part of my planning I

Re: amplifiers
Used to use 24v on commercial 12v for this reason. Problem is once capacity goes down current soon drops so you dont get much more for your money compared to two 12v in parallel.7ah is 7ah however you

Re: FT-817 android software
I would try to find a decent Android Tablet running KitKat (4.4), Jellybean (4.1-4.3), or Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0). 817Companion supports more functions than pRxTx, but won't run on anything newer.

Re: amplifiers
Hi steve go for a 4 cell, the use a bridge rectifier to drop the voltage a little bit, the amp has a over voltage 16v diode fitted that will crowbar and short at that voltage and blow the fuse it

Re: FT817 and FM Digital
Hello Everyone! Thank you all for the great responses. I've included two below (I hope they get all the way through the yahoo system...) The first is the very first reply I saw to the group from

Re: amplifiers
I have just acquired an MPX-50M and I'm wondering what is the best way to power it. My current thinking is to get a 5 cell Lipo at 8mah this outputs about 18.5 v, I will then put this througha buck

Re: FT817 and FM Digital
Jonathan, /"Be Prepared!"/ the FT-817 will do FM just as well, if not better, than a 2m Baofeng. What's the exact problem? Generally, when the 817 is set to 2m (144MHz) with the band switch, and

What port on the 817 are you using for the data, rear data port, head phone jack for rcv or mic??? If using rear data port the rig must be in digital mode, selected with the right/left arrows on

Re: block 00 expected 4 got 2
Just figured it out. I had the plug into the incorrect jack on the back of the radio. Plugged it into the correct jack and all is well. Got a great 817 up and running. Now to make some contacts.

Re: TX Inhibit
Taking the TX inhibit pin on the ACC connector high inhibits transmission (although the radio still switches to transmit mode). I've read some posts in various places which talk about the 817 sensing

Re: TX Inhibit
Many thanks for all the replies. It looks like if I pull up the TX Inhibit pin to the +V supply rail then any RF output will be prevented. Regards, David - G4EDR

Re: TX Inhibit
I use this feature as part of my 10GHz transverter sequencing. i am pretty sure, albeit from memory, that a high (+12v) voltage on the TX Inh input will disable any RF out even though teh radio does

Re: TX Inhibit
I finally got around to looking at the manual, and there is a TX Inhibit pin on the ACC connector on the back of the radio. You'll need to dig through a bunch of sequencer documentation to figure out
