On lower HF frequencies, due to atmospheric QRN and other noise, that
extra 6dB above QRP can really make the difference between a Q-5 QSO

I've been looking for user opinions on the sgc2000... would appreciate your
view. Drop it into the sgc2000 e-group so as not to clutter this one

One's opinion of a manufacturer is, of course, based on one's own
personal experience. My experience with Yaesu is that they are among
the best. Example. Had an FT-470 handheld that was

Re: HF SSB: Needs>20W
Well...
QROing up to 20 watts from five gives you - as everyone here
knows - one S-Unit. Sometimes this will make a difference,
sometimes it won't. Every operator of any experience knows that

Actually, SHE (Bonnie) said with a whip on a backpack. Engage your own brain.
Also, as pointed out, 1 S-unit is not gonna make a discernable difference. Furthermore, using the SG-2020 as the 20-watt

Re: HF SSB: Needs>20W
So, Bonnie, you are going to:
- run an amp on portable power?
- not operate SSB below ~18MHz?
- use the MP-25 instead?
- change your mind about the SG2020?
- stay home and QRO?
I'd love to hear

Re: Ant. Tuners for backpack?
Basically, I looked at the LDG BA-1 kit and found a torrid in the
junk box. Amidon something, same size as the ones used for the tuner.
I wounded a similar one and mounted it inside the enclosure.
