Also, as pointed out, 1 S-unit is not gonna make a discernable difference. Furthermore, using the SG-2020 as the 20-watt example (because it is currently the most popular) and comparing it to a 5-watt Yaesu; if the FT-817 has the same SSB transmit characteristics as other Yaesu SSB rigs, the Yaesu at 5 watts is gonna outperform the SG-2020 at 20 watts. I had an SG-2020, and it is a piece of junk both receive and transmit. I have also owned and operated many Yaesus both large and small, and they have far more transmit audio punch and clarity than the 2020.
BTW, I also have an SG-2000 and it is a different story altogether.
