Re: FT991a with Signalink?
开云体育Curious why you are interested in running digital modes off a raspberry pi? (To be clear, "just because" is a perfectly fine answer)Windows laptops with enough 'umph' to handle digital modes and give you a 12-15" screen & full keyboard can be had for just under $150. In my experience, the raspberry pi is like the stone in the children's 'stone soup' fable [1] - buying everything you need to build out a Raspberry Pi can run up to $150 pretty quickly. Anyway, just curious, thanks, Ken, N2VIP [1]?? On Mar 31, 2019, at 10:27 PM, 'Mark A. Miller' mark@... [FT817] <FT817@...> wrote:

File - FT817 Group Guidelines.txt
FT817@yahoogroups.com
The FT817 Group averages over 500 (+/-130 one-sigma) messages
per month. Because the volume of messages is rather large, I would like to remind everyone of a few long-standing FT817 guidelines to follow. Most of you do so already. 1. Civility. (This is practiced well by our members!) 2. Please sign your messages with name and call sign, e.g., Fred - W1XYZ. 3. When replying to a posting (message), kindly delete all unnecessary text including the trailing text. Only leave the text from the prior message to which you are replying ... <snip> the rest. If one desires to read the entire thread, the command [Up Thread] at the top of the message can be used to read the entire discussion. Remember also that a lot of members have slow connections and some even pay connect time or characters rx/tx. This also helps the clarity of your message. 4. When replying to a post, please decide if your comment should be to the entire group of about 10,000 or directly to the author of the post. When you click on "Reply," it goes to everyone. To reply direct (simplex), you should click on the email address following the user ID line at the top of the post. Notice that only a part is shown for privacy. Also, please think about if what you are about to post in reply to the group really should be to the group ... replies like "I sure do agree with that" doesn't add much to the group. Send thoughts like those direct to the poster please. 5. It is fine for members to post something for sale or wanted to buy ... once per item(s). All questions and offers to buy/sell should be made directly to the poster, not to the Group. The member posting the FS or WTB may post that the item(s) was/were sold/purchased. 6. Posting of commercial items for sale by manufacturers or dealers is also fine, but should be done on an infrequent basis. The FT817 members benefit by learning of hardware, software, sales, etc. before it appears in magazines, etc. 7. New members are all moderated until their first posting. If it follows the guidelines, it is approved and the member is change to unmoderated status. This list is a partially moderated list, i.e., only first message is moderated while later messages are monitored after posting. If an unmoderated posting is found by the moderators to have a problem, then the poster is contacted directly to resolve. Actions are taken against those that chronically violate the rules. The reason for this form of moderation is to block spammers from the list and it has been working. 8. Do not add disclaimers to your posts that (1) restrict the ability of other members to use the information you post, (2) claim a copyright to your post, or (3) to claim any type of "rights" as a consequence of another member replying to your post either directly to you or to the group. Thanks to all es 73, Barry - W4WB Moderator |
FT991a with Signalink?
开云体育Hi: ? I am considering running my FT991a for digital modes with a SignaLink USB interface (in place of the internal sound card) so that I can run the entire system with a Raspberry Pi instead of a Windows laptop. Has anyone tried this, and if so, what menu settings did you change for this new configuration? ? 73, ? Mark, WA0ZIG ? |

Thank you Jim and Don. I was able to confirm using the color menu that that I have an original-non ND FT-817. Your help is very much appreciated, Don? Hi Don, As far as I know, one of the best ways to identify the ND model is to check Menu Item #15. If you have 3 display colors, ie, Blue, Amber, and Violet, then you have the ND model. Check this out and see how many display colors you have. Jim G. W4JRG |

Re: FT817ND servicemanual/ boardlayout
开云体育Erlend, what you should see on pin 1 is the DC input voltage, fed from a 10Ω, 1/16W resistor. This can only supply 75mA, or the thermal rating of R1235 will be exceeded. If you are not seeing 13V or so, then you may be measuring at the wrong pin. The diagram on page 5 of the user manual is, AFAIK, as seen from behind the pins of the plug. There is a more recent version of the service manual to be found online, though I can't remember quite where I found it. HTH, 73, Robin, G8DQX On 27/03/2019 09:18,

Identifying an FT-817ND versus FT-817
don schad
Hi all, I am trying to figure out if I have an 817 or 817ND.? ?After internet searching and looking at various pictures, I can not determine if the model number on radio or the nameplate contains the ND designation or not? So if someone could confirm if? the FT-817ND contains the letters ND on the tag or model number or not, I would really appreciate it. And, if the answer is "no", how would I tell?? I tried to determine it by serial number, but as I understand it this is ambiguous - my S/N starts "1K", which as my understanding means either 2001 or 2011?? ?Given that the ND was introduced in 2004 it could be either.?? Any help appreciated on this simple task! Thanks, Don |
FT817ND servicemanual/ boardlayout
egrimseid@gmail.com
Hi all. I'm in need of an schematic and board layout for my 817nd. The service manual i have managed to source online only contains revisions 4, 5 and 6. Of Course the area of interest looks completely different on my board witch is marked with the number 9.? So I'm guessing that mine is an some what newer version than the ones in the service manual i managed to find. The issue I'm having is the voltage output on the ACC port, for tuners and other accessories. I'm just getting 1,6v out, with an 13v PSU.? I'm suspecting R1235, but the board in the service manual layout is completely different from my board in that area.? Any help would be appreciated. 73 LA4TTA Erlend? ? |

Not as much power as the one in the original post, but a long portable activation can see both used. Liz VK2XSE |
