I was able to confirm using the color menu that that I have an original-non ND FT-817.

Hi Don,
As far as I know, one of the best ways to identify the ND model
is to check Menu Item #15.
If you have 3 display colors, ie, Blue, Amber, and Violet, then
you have the ND model.
Check this out and see how many display colors you have.
