SSB does not generate a carrier when the PTT is pressed.? You need audio to cause an actual signal to be generated.? Use CW and a key. Take care, Mark AA3K

Hi Douglas, The antenna port can be selected for each band individually. An ¡®R¡¯ will be on the screen next to the Frequency when the rear connector is selected. No R = Front (BNC)

TX error normanly shows up when out of band so check your freq, but there are other possiblities for the TX error. Mick SA4MDN

Sorry, but there is a BNC ANTENNA PORT on the front, mainly for UHF & VHF. So, NO ALL antennas are NOT on the back. Clyde KC7BJE

Make sure you are using the correct antenna connector, front or rear.? Will have "R" on display if rear. The connector can be selected in menu for different bands. There is only one PA for all the

FT817 uses the same TX power train for all bands (unlike '857 and most other all-band radios) If you have zero power on some band it is very unlikely to be any of the transistors. Look at the block
