#6 Cu is rated for 55A @ 60C
#6 AL is rated for 50A @ 75C

I believe NEC derate for the wires to be in the wall cavity. Is there a different standard for machine cables/ext wires? I guess it would have to be based upon the length of said cable.

In the same vain, as you stated, the wires that my felder machines came with are substantially smaller gauge than what I had to use per code.

I guess Felder manual was written for a 3 phase machine in Europe.

The max current draw is different between a single phase and 3 phase motor. For example, 28 amp for 5hp (230v) single motor, 15.2 amp for 5hp (230v) three phase motor.? ?

Re: RL125 Collecting Chips in Back Right Corner

From what I read on Internet they do offer a solution for chips/dust lodged in the main filter pleats: antistatic filter. I am not sure how it works, but I guess if this is like antistatic hoses, dust should not get attach to it and thus chips should have no way to cement with dust in the pleats, and the cleaning brush should remove the chips if any.

Re: RL125 Collecting Chips in Back Right Corner

Thanks Bill. I really think that they should have a cheap throw away pre filter. That would prevent the chips from getting lodged in the main filter pleats.

My homemade air scrubber has a 2¡¯x2¡¯ low Merv pre filter.?

I also always vacuum the inside of the RL, including the filter when I change the bag, so this area cannot accumulate too much dust over time.

I guess this is due to the design of the machine.

RL125 Collecting Chips in Back Right Corner

So I have been using RL125 for few months now. It is an older (2003) machine that I bought used.

When I pull the drum to change the bag there is always a load of chips, that collect in the back right side corner, that end up on the floor. In order to avoid that I pretty much need to change the bag half full. Is this normal?

I should add that the drum fills in that corner causing the chips to pile up above the drum and into the corner cavity above.

If this is not suppose to happen then could it be a sign that I need to change filter?

As I write this, I am wondering if I could just simply add something in that corner to prevent collection. Will check when back in shop to see if I can do this w/o obstructing something. It is a pain to sweep floor every time I change bags.

Anyhow, I have adjusted the wipers to 10mm with no difference. BTW, are the filter pleats suppose to be loaded with chips? It seems to work fine but not sure if it will work better if that was not the case.

Another factor could be the flap at the inlet. Seems to work fine but just thought I mention it, in case it can cause the uneven fill.

Re: Machinery Max: 2019-FELDER-FORMAT-KAPPA-400 - Toronto Canada

45k CAD$ is 35K US$ based on the current exchange rate. I doubt Kappa 400 with the 12 foot sliding table would cost that much.

When I bought my KF700sp in 2016, I recall Kappa 400 was 30K+ CAD$ plus tax at that time.

Re: Felder FB 610 Problems

Rants are OK. It helps those of us who have had issues feel like we're not alone.

On Wed, Dec 30, 2020 at 4:32 AM <ppc970@...> wrote:
I took delivery of a new Felder FB 610 bandsaw back in October and encountered the following issues which were introduced during the re-packaging process out of Delaware (confirmed by a Felder tech):

1.) Various gouges and dents on the front upper and middle quadrants of the machine base frame.

2.) Broken adjustment cam on the upper blade guide (for whatever reason they actually tossed the broken cam into another parts bag enclosed with this machine).?

3.) Bent blade protection device and possibly distorted rack for the upper blade guide (covered below).?

I contacted Felder and they sent a service tech out to perform a quick on-site inspection a few days after delivery. We put together a replacement parts list to cover anything damaged in transit. I was told that our replacement parts would arrive within the next 4 weeks. More than 60 days later I still don¡¯t have any updated schedule for the parts I¡¯ve requested. I¡¯ve had to call or email Felder repeatedly (to little success) in order to get information pertaining to shipping for additional in process orders or replacement parts from the service department.?

I¡¯ve spent multiple weeks attempting to get this bandsaw to re-saw straight without success. The rack for the upper blade guide wasn¡¯t 90 degrees from the table nor was it parallel to the blade. I¡¯ve re-adjusted this component nearly a dozen times (my father and I have rebuilt the saw multiple times) and I¡¯ve never been able to get it closer than 1 degree off 90 for a ~1-2¡± depth of cut and this angle changes by nearly a degree when moving from ~2¡± to 20¡± making the bandsaw useless for wide re-saw which is one of my intended use cases. I also feel a concerning amount of play within the gear mechanism so I¡¯m starting to suspect this issue might be a defect somehow introduced during manufacturing. It¡¯s really too bad since I bought a Hammer A3-41 planer / thicknesser combination machine earlier this year and I love it (awesome machine with zero problems).?

I¡¯m starting to find Felder¡¯s service department disappointing since I asked them what the proper torque values are for the two M6 bolts which control the rack adjustment within the upper frame -- I was given the following response: ¡°good and tight but not too much¡±.

Really??

I¡¯ve verified that the upper and lower wheels are coplanar (they are -- although this shouldn¡¯t matter) and my 3/8¡± blade is tracking the center of both wheels. I¡¯m at the point where I think I should just request a replacement since I¡¯ve been stuck without a functional bandsaw for the last 3 months and Felder hasn't been terribly motivated to resolve the issues we¡¯ve encountered with this machine. Any advice is greatly appreciated and I apologize for the rant.
