I have had it for over a year now. Does everything I ask of it including the tilt function. I used bora 4wheeled base but the base was extended to its max and consequently the long axis bars bent at their connection points causing the wheels to not swivel correctly. But overall like the unit. The missing front panel idea is a good idea to though for storage. does it rack though without that panel?

Hi guys!
I’ve got a new brand new saw and I can’t get the machine running.
it’s a felder k740 5.5kw 230v 3phase?
the motor won’t start… the emergency button is off, main power switch is on and blade cover is on. I have tried multiple combinations with the 3phase wiring and have tested the outlet with another machine. i can hear a small clicking when I connect it to power and when I push the on button. other than that nothing happening?
im waiting on answer from the dealership/felder but it’s been a couple days already and I really need to get the saw running…
any suggestions?
thanks

Lee, I built one, but I am not quite finished.? I built a base for the casters and rotated the metal base cabinet 180 degrees so that the opening for the back is now in the front.? I bolted everything together and left the back panel (now front panel) off.? It leaves you 6 bolts to attach a faceframe cabinet to the bottom cabinet for storage of the sandpaper etc. I have yet to add the insert to the bottom. Pics attached. PK PKwoodworking

I am curious if anyone has or is going to have a mobile base cabinet created for the HS950?

Re: Felder circular saw blades
The three shims shown below on the left go between the dado cutter and the arbor locking cap on the right. ?They pad out the distance between the cap and the cutter so that the cutter is kept in compression. ?The 30mm bore spindle shaper bushings work just as well for this. ?
The shims shown below go between the two halves of the shaper cutter to adjust cutting width.

Re: Felder circular saw blades
Wade and Michael, Thanks for adding the details.
Wade, as for the shim set, just confirm with Felder which one will work with the dado set. I have two Felder shim sets, 30mm & 1.25” bore, to use with shaper cutters but really don’t ?know if there is one specific for the dado tooling.

PK, thanks for the instructions. That missing page would’ve been helpful. And Tom, thanks for your photo as well. I’m a little chagrined to admit that I was thinking the miter gauge should slide… now that I think about it, locking it in place as Tom did makes great sense.?

I have a miter gauge for my HS950, and it matches the image that PK uploaded, does not match what Victor uploaded. The set screws (part #13) are used to secure the bottom piece in the t-track, allowing the miter gauge to quickly drop into position. I've used mine pretty extensively, and overall I'm pretty pleased with it. It's certainly not perfect, but I find it to be serviceable....? -- Tom Gensmer Heritage Home Renewals, LLC Minneapolis, MN

My instructions look different than what you have.
I scanned the 4 pages.? It calls out the modification for an HS950.? The miter gauge is made for a few machines.

PK, thanks for the info. I've attached the three pages that came with the miter gauge. Wasn't clear to me that wider (bottom) part of the miter bar needed to come off. And it seems odd that the miter gauge will now ride the slot on the three set screws. Having a bit of buyer's remorse with this but will see how it works out. But I'm happy I was able to get one of the machines during the Felder promotion.
|
For the miter gauge, there are some headless hex screws you put into the bottom piece and they go through the screw holes in the miter on top. Kinda hokey. The shipping label on mine says: Made for Hammer Austria - Europe, but not where. Supposedly Europe somewhere. But parts can come worldwide. The source labeling laws are less specific than in the US. -- -- Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with chalk, cut it with a Hammer

?Hi Jonathan,
I have been using several Felder saw blades on my K3 for a few weeks
now. I have the universal Classic (10", black colored blade), a
scoring blade to go with that blade, and the diamond tipped blade they
sell. I don't have any basis for comparison, but the classic 10"
(universal) when used with the scoring blade cuts plywood beautifully
with little to no tear out. The expensive diamond tipped one cuts
equally well (but without the scoring unit). Others can chip in if
there are cheaper but equally good alternatives out there. I imagine
there are. This place (https://ridgecarbidetool.com/), for example,
sells table saw blades with the appropriate bore and pin cut outs, but
they seem about as expensive as the Felder ones.
As an aside, I also bought the full dado set for my saw and have been
very happy with it.

Did anyone try the Felder circular saw blades?
Are they worth the price or are we paying a lot for the "Felder" engraved on the blade?
I see they have 2 ranges of blades, the "Classic" (the black one) and the "Silver", the price difference is quiet big between both range (at least in my country). Any advise?

Re: Felder circular saw blades
As I recall from other recent posts here, you need to order a separate set of shims for the Felder dado cutters. ?I looked at the Felder web site to find the part number for the set, but the site is so dysfunctional that I couldn’t locate either dado cutter or the shim sets on eShop. ?Call your sales rep.? Re: Felder circular saw blades
Harvey made many of the components/tools for Bridge City while John Economaki owned it. ?He wanted to retire, so he sold Bridge City to Harvey. ?Personally, I’ve not noticed any difference in the quality of their tools, although it doesn’t seem that customer service is quite what it once was.
While it doesn’t have the brass and Jura wood, you can buy the next version of the palm brace from BCT now: ?. ?It isn’t cheap, however...
