Re: Problem with Delivery of new Felder K770S

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

When I picked up my Felder at the freight terminal I quickly understood all the damage. The forklift operators drive FAST with and without a load. Like 20 MPH fast. I was told by Felder they use the 2 by 4 and plastic because if not the freight company will almost always stack on top. I have a very expensive set of speakers arrive UPS and one of the two boxes arrived with a hole all the way through the box, and the speaker inside, and out the other side. The speaker walls were 50 mm of high density particle board. So the forklift had enough momentum to ram a fork through 100mm of high density particle board. Crazy.?

My Hammer B3 came in an open frame crate as well. There was a bit of damage to the 'crate' on the slider side, but no damage to the saw itself. I did take delivery of a HS-950 on Monday. It's 'fully' crated, but the plywood top wouldn't have taken a hit as there wasn't any real frame underneath (strips of plywood) and the whole thing basically lifted off the crate once the straps were removed.

I will say that both machines were securely fastened to the pallet.

Hi Mac, let me start by saying that you are partially responsible for me thinking about selling this jig because your clamps are simply awesome. ?In terms of the Ruwi F & F Jig I made one for 90 degree cuts and another jig for 45 degree cuts based on a suggested design by Lon Chen. ?So the Ruwi jig would be useful for any cuts of other angles but I just haven't used it much. ?Am I missing something in terms of use of the jig?

Re: New K700S Delivery Damage to Sliding Table

Yes, I just experienced a delivery of a damaged sliding table saw package. (sorry- this machine came from Italy - forgive me now before continuing...)
Slider was okay, as it was in a solid wood coffin with ply tops and fastened to a special pallet for it. They did their darnedest to it, but that structure held up well.
However, entire 4'x7' cardboard enclosure over plastic wrap could be lifted off with one hand. Cones placed on top to prevent stacking were completely ripped off, and pallet had rubbed right down to the iron top. Fortunately, things turned out okay. I thought a corner was hit, as switch plate was bowed out ~5mm. Could not figure that out, until wiring time. A bundle of wires was pinched (unharmed) in between saw body and switch plate during factory assembly. In the end, the only real loss was a broken plastic splinter guard on the largest squaring bar.

More to the point: I called my salesman while on the truck inspecting, and he did everything he could to coerce me into accepting the machine, unless it was completely annihilated. I realize, it would save him the headaches and place duty of resolving all issues squarely on me. Not cool. I got lucky, but as I'm reading here, I think I'd reject it next time.
?
So- anyone else expecting machines, expect similar issues. It's just the way things are right now, regardless the shipping company or manufacturer involved.
Be ruthless, and shove the results of their carelessness right back on them. You will then get results. Just remember, whoever is stuck with the half-ton damaged machine is the one most motivated to remedy the situation. Sadly, in this instance, it is Shimmdog, our original poster.?
Good luck with your freight claim, but I will say, my Felder rep took the bull by the horns and rounded up all missing components from my shaper last spring, unlike my salesman for the machine I just received, who seems to not want to hear from me and is being as dismissive as he can be.
I trust your Felder rep will follow through and help you thoroughly.??

This is? a little late? for this? buyer.

Accepting the damaged? goods is far preferable to refusing.? Refusing can add costs to quarrel about (storage & handling) and the item can be further damaged? which would be more to? quarrel about.? Endorse the bill of lading and add a clause indicating that the packaging was damaged and acceptance is reserved until inspection.? Take pictures.

Refusing doesn't do a better job of preserving your rights.? You rights as a purchaser may be readily vindicated by the seller but if the seller is uncooperative? you will end up having to litigate.

I always recommend that the purchaser acquire a Performance Bond in the form of Cargo Insurance from their homeowners' insurance company at the time of making the order. You can get it in the form of a temporary rider.

The UCC places liability? for risk of loss? on the? buyer,? in the absentee of a breech where goods are to be delivered to a specific location. But? retailers almost never? apply this reading of the UCC? to end use retail consumers. This is because the players are not operating from the same playing? level.

I don't recall the terms used in my purchase agreement.? Read it.? It will probably? cover the whole risk of loss thing.? If it does and it differs from the UCC? then the agreement controls.

It is not been my experience that Felder is overly warm, to the idea of? taking responsibility? for things they do wrong.

By way of example

When I bought my RL160 the documentation? expressly? stated that the upstream protection was not to exceed? 20 amps.? So my electrician wired it in accordingly and all it did was blow fuses.

I was steamed, the motor needs? a lot more inrush current to get started under? full load.? I wanted Felder to? pay the additional to have the old? wiring pulled and new laid.

They had some guy who must have been a used car salesman to gas-light me for a couple weeks? probably? intending that he would be able to frustrate me to the point of abandoning my claim.

My offer was to sue them but not? according to the agreement. I was going to being them into NJ state court and ask the court to reform the contractual terms? voiding their choice of laws and choice of? venue clauses? which if? I succeeded would put them at risk of being sued in all the various states in the nation instead of forcing all litigants to go to Delaware.? I did not know if I'd succeed but the Courts in my state? have been changing? rather drastically and may have gone along. it'd have been way worse for Felder hf that happened? than them paying a few? hundred for my electrician.

This process took weeks as I recall and it was infuriating.

Avoid the possibility of all that crap by purchasing insurance.

Re: K700S electrical drawings? #electrical #k700s #schematic

I was thinking the same as a fallback option. That is you could wire your machine similar to mine which does not require a PCB. Just a DIN rail is all you need and you can hardwire the selector switch connections. You could also add the brake board if you like.

I still think, it would be much less work, if yours could be fixed with help from Felder. In general, they are very good. You start a ticket online or by calling them. They will troubleshoot with your help on the phone. It does not cost you anything.

It was a logistical nightmare working with them and something I wouldn't expect from Felder. With the price of our Felder toys, we should expect proper freighting. Re: K700S electrical drawings? #electrical #k700s #schematic

Hi Imran,
Strange that the two machines are so different considering the same build year.? At least K1 is identified in your drawing, the four contactors in mine are not identified on any drawing I've seen, plus, they seem to be fitted in a kind of socket thats soldered to the board.? I'd much prefer your wiring design, as its easier follow whats connected to what.? There is even some kind of microcontroller or pic or something on this board, maybe the star/delta timing or phase monitoring by the current transformers is monitored by that... I'm not sure.? ?I think I'll end up building a new S/D starter on a DIN rail with regular contactors and put it into the saw panel and carry on...At the end of the day, its only a motor - all this fancy PCB stuff is a bit overkill....of course I'd be losing the brake.... but as things stand, the brake is no use if it doesn't run in the first place!
Thanks for your information so far Imran

Re: New K700S Delivery Damage to Sliding Table

Agree with above.? Definitely do not sign for it, once you do, it's 100% yours.? Don't let anyone pressure you to sign.? Drivers & Loaders are always in a hurry and waiting there while you unpack your stuff is low on their to do list.? ?I was inspecting my K3 on arrival a few months ago, and as I was inspecting the driver says "looks good to me."? Sometimes you just have to ignore them.

Actually I think you suggested that to me back then. They looked fine and when they got to my shop they were all still as the day I saw them In Sac.
However I used the rigger that Felder recommended at the time just in case I had problems.

In a market like this, where supply chains are clogged, shipping companies are short staffed, customers are waiting 12 months for their pre-paid orders, etc., you would think crating a machine to ensure no damage through LTL shipment would be pretty high priority. ?But in the battle between NIH and being open to constructive feedback, NIH always wins at Felder. ?I¡¯ve made countless product improvement suggestions to Felder which were not only ignored, but not even acknowledged with ¡°I received your suggestions - please stop." ?In contrast, when Martin wanted to come up with an ¡°entry level¡± sliding table saw, they paid me handsomely to come to Germany to provide input on the various design tradeoffs for the T60. ?I have come to the conclusion that it¡¯s an impenetrable cultural thing with Felder. ?It's a mindset that just doesn't change. ? End of rant.

Felder would save money in the long run by properly crating their products up front rather than dealing with warranty and shipping damages on the back end.?

This is my first time receiving a large shipment, and I have no experience dealing with such an issue.? I did mark the carrier form with the damage and was provided an exception number (whatever that is).

Hello again,

My KF is also 2001. It is strange that I do not have a PCB. The only PCB is the brake board. I will attach my schematic but it is not going to match. Felder should be able to provide you with one got your machine.

Unless used in a production environment, your grandkids probably will be using this machine. Felder offers great support and I imagine you can get it running just fine.

?Hi Imran,
Its a 2001 machine, its getting a bit long in the tooth, but was working fine up to recently.
But yes, there is 24vac present across the start switch, and I've replaced that switch block with a new one, but still no dice.
In this saw, the brake circuitry is all on the one main board, so I'm not sure that can be eliminated easily.
I've trawled through the files section, but failed to find anything to help my cause....

I think if I fail to fix this, I'll abandon all that board and electronics and make up my own star/detla starter and use that, though I'd prefer fix it as it stands....
Thanks!
Seamus

Re: New K700S Delivery Damage to Sliding Table

This thread makes me nervous too. I think my K700S came to Delaware the same time, but I am summonses to pick it up from the trucking terminal. I suspect cannot strip it down or unpack anything before I pick it up.
