Re: Aftermarket Digital Rip Fence?
开云体育Thanks for all the input on my questions. I’m new to sliders so everyone else’s experience is invaluable to make my purchase decisions.? Regarding adding digital flip stops to the crosscut fence and auto rip to the build on my saw, my rep said it’s too late in the process to make any changes. He did offer to potentially send me another customer’s saw currently in the Delaware warehouse with almost identical build specs but including the precision miter index option. The one condition is that he is willing to accept my machine in April and I accept his machine now with the added miter index part.? Im on the fence about accepting the other machine with the added feature or wait another 3 months. What would you guys do in my situation?? My saw is a 7.5hp 3ph, 126” slide, 1500 outrigger, with overhead saw guard option. Since this is probably not my forever slider, I went with all manual controls to begin with. My thought process was that I will eventually be adding a Fiama DRO to the rip fence and one of Brian’s crosscut flip stop DRO.? On Jan 9, 2022, at 12:17 PM, Brian Lamb <blamb11@...> wrote:

Re: Aftermarket Digital Rip Fence?
开云体育And I have two threaded holes on the short edge, you could clamp a piece of bar across that edge that slides into the t-slot and then use set screws to push it tight and make it square as long as the fence itself is square.

Re: Aftermarket Digital Rip Fence?
Brian Lamb makes a huge square that you can use to get a square cut on long thin pieces. Bill Belanger On Sun, Jan 9, 2022 at 09:15 Jonathan Smith <jonathan.smith@...> wrote:

Re: Aftermarket Digital Rip Fence?
I use the rip fence for longer narrow work which seems like about half the time.? Fo me it is a major feature of the machine.
Sometimes i use a 12" triangle square against the x-cut fence and work piece for in between shape work pieces as insurance.? A longer squaring arm that rides in the face groove of x-cut fence and used the same measuring system as the x-cut stops might be handy.? I would be able to work to the left of the blade more often. |
Re: Newest Splinter tongue design for non-DRO fences
开云体育Not sure I would want the graphic representation of missing fingers after you trim that to length… :-)

Re: Aftermarket Digital Rip Fence?
Dan, I am just a hobbyist woodworker, but I recently upgraded to my “forever” saw from a K500P to the Kappa 400 with all dro. I totally love the Auto rip fence and digital crosscut stops. Since you have to wait, if it was me I would be asking to change my order to include the auto rip fence and dro stops. Don’t know if that is within your budget but now would be the time to do it.?

Re: Aftermarket Digital Rip Fence?
开云体育I think there will be near 100% consensus on this forum on what Jay B said, DRO on xcut before rip. I said near 100% because I never know what Cliff R would come up with ? Imran On Jan 9, 2022, at 8:04 AM, jbowen@... wrote:

I only use the rip fence for repetitive or narrow cuts thus far.? Jay B. |

Re: Aftermarket Digital Rip Fence?
开云体育If by “Auto rip fence” you mean a motorized positioning fence with DRO?? Zero chance for less than $5k. ?Felder builds machine configurations to order and the motorized rip fence is not a field-upgradable option that is economical.?David Best - via mobile phone? Aftermarket Digital Rip Fence?
I had originally placed an order for a k700s back in October and was told that the specific machine was built and to be delivered last week of December. It is now almost mid January and my Rep Jeff returned my calls and messages with some not so great news. Turns out there was a delay in production and I’m now expecting delivery in April. Bummer. Anyway, my question is if it’s possible to order and fit the Felder Auto rip fence after market? I didn’t want to wait even longer for a custom build with one so went with a standard saw setup that was available to reserve back in October.? ? |
Re: Newest Splinter tongue design for non-DRO fences
开云体育I wouldn’t know where the 45? cut lands, and how consistent that is from machine to machine. I would probably think that might have to be a machine to machine custom situation. Honestly I don’t know that I’d worry about it at angles on the leading edge, just back up the trailing edge to stop splintering.
