Re: Router Spindle or Router Lift
开云体育Jose-
I kept my router table with ready to rout system and let the shaper be the shaper. The router setup is helpful to have a separate and precise tool for short runs where it takes on the order of 5 min to setup with great accuracy
and a beefy porter cable motor. I let the shaper handle high throughput and joinery operations when setup time in the 15 min range or more depending on what I’m doing (breakdowns, trials, etc) makes more sense. I also have a combination machine. I don’t think
I have any interest in a router spindle for the shaper. Only benefit would be to clear up space. If I had a one bay garage workshop with a combination machine and no other room I would probably be forced to get it after running out of room for a router.

Hi Guys,
My Jessem router lift broke.? Threads on screw have worn out and therefor doesn't hold position.? So this is opportunity to maybe purchase the router spindle for my KF700 but its price of $912 is making me doubt if its worth it.? The other option is to replace the Jessem router lift with another router lift which I am leaning towards the??for $349 after a discount.? So I am pretty sure this is probably the smart choice but for any that have been in same situation and have ditched the router lift and have replaced it with the router spindle, I am curious what your opinions and inputs are. Thanks, Jose |

Re: Adjustable Groover Item # 03.0.033 depth of cut
开云体育Micheal,If you want to go deeper you need larger cutters and a tenoning hood. IF you depth of cut is 3” (2(75mm ) +80mm= 230mm) ?you are out of space. ?80mm is the size of the spacer ring on the spindle. ? So you need to go to larger discs that don’t fit into the 230 hood. Joe in New Orleans

Thanks David,
Both of those options look good. ?How does the cut with the Forrest dado blades compare to the rebate heads? ? Jonathan, I saw that Whitehill combi-head and it looks great. Seems like a very versatile offering. Has anyone used the Whitehill tenon discs? They look good and are priced very nicely, my only concern is the lack of knickers. Michael |

Re: Adjustable Groover Item # 03.0.033 depth of cut
开云体育Whitehill has really expanded their offering, and at less than half the cost of Rangate, are a great value IMO. ? And a lot of their profiles are unique and very attractive in the US market.Another alternative for tenoning is a conventional dado set bored to 30mm - here’s a double stack of Forrest Dado King 10” dado cutters on my KF700 - this needs a proper tenoning hood for sure: I used that setup to tenon 5x5 fence rails to 3?” depth. ? ?This link might be useful: ??? 开云体育Wow, these are inexpensive. They are AL CI steel and do not have the nickers (like on Felder) which give you a nice cut when doing rebates. Imran On May 27, 2020, at 4:02 PM, habacomike via groups.io <habacomike@...> wrote:

Re: Adjustable Groover Item # 03.0.033 depth of cut
开云体育Two of the following rebate cutters, with a bushing between them the thickness of the tenon you want, will go to 74mm depth, and 31mm high. ? These is what I use:T-max on the dado cutter is not specified, but maximum depth of cut using it as a groover is 34mm because of the inner hub projection. ? I don't miss it on my 10' slider but made a corded one for my shorter stroke saws.? The long slider stays on most of the time as I can move stuff without getting close enough to the blade to worry about shutting it off.? Dave

Re: Switch on slider?
开云体育Besides sheet goods just doing long boards is a pain on my KF. I use a sled due to short slider but would be same if you had parallel clamps on a long slider. I have rough lumber that is all diff width but even if they are all same width and you are trying to preserve the width, you end up setting up width for each board on slider for the first straight line rip. Then I have to go to the other side to turn the saw on. I know you can leave it on to avoid this back and forth. In this example, the buttons on the slider end, if I had them, would still be covered, unless one can approach them from side. Files section should have the pendent, as someone mentioned. That design can be implemented as an overhead pendent or one that is attached/placed on machine wherever convenient. A lot less than $1K. ?I'm looking for insights and experience for deciding whether it's worth the extra cost to get the option of power switches on the end of the slider for a KF 700. (Cost is $1,000-plus, I think.) Is it something you use a lot, or is the switch panel on the side sufficient? Thanks.
