Re: K 700 s single phase
I have the single phase KF700 saw since 2005 and have never run out of power.... then again I don't cut anything really huge and hard with it.
It handles 2" White Oak and Walnut just fine. What it can cut and how can depend on the blade used, of course but even with the 'wrong' blade I have enough power. On the other hand, if you go the 3 phase route, you'd open the door to having other 3 phase machines in the future. I'd love to have 3 phase but I don't...%^) |

Re: Adding fence to bandsaw?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓý
There is enough adjustment on the fence for the slight drift.? Crowned tires, 25K tension,? and a 1" blade that never leaves the saw so I've not touched the fence since it was installed.? That type of fence can't take a lot of side pressure but it isn't needed
when resawing.? If I remember correctly ( less frequent with age ) the fence was mispriced on Amazon and greed made me break my rule to not buy from them.? Dave

Dave,
Have you adapted that fence to allow for drift adjustment?

Re: Workshop video
It doesn't look as cool as David's setup of course, but I just use a rubber band to hold my phone on my Canon S100 while on the?tripod. It works great. The Canon shoots great video, but it's so much easier to just use the phone.

Re: Used BF 6-31
#whatmachinetobuy
I bought a BF631 a little over a year ago, it is a tight squeeze in my single stall garage and I am grateful for the wheels and jack. I never regretted it for an instant, it is an absolutely fabulous machine. I have not had any issues and have been able to get the Felder accessories I needed. For hobby work I could not think of a better machine, and I feel privileged to be able to own and use one.

Re: Workshop video
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI do extensive video and still photo work in my shop. ? I use an iPhone 11 Pro Max almost exclusively for still and video capture. I have also used a Canon M50 mirrorless (which I find too tiny to fumble the controls) and my Nikon D7500 and Z6 (which I find too complex and heavy). ? I have to say that I have owned and used all the top-end gear, and I am REALLY impressed with the iPhone Pro. ?One of the things I like about the Apple solution is that every image and video is automatically uploaded to my iCloud storage so I can edit on my desktop or iPad. ?Zero hassle. ?The iPhone gives me plenty of exposure and focus control for shop work. ?Time lapse, slow motion, zoom on the video. ?And the vibration reduction works as good as my Nikon. ?I even employ the portrait mode when I need to control depth of field. ?And of course, it¡¯s always in my pocket, so I don¡¯t have to go searching for gear when I want to capture the moment. Here are the support gear items I use in the shop: For video, depending on the situation, I will either use the built-in mic or a Rode wireless remote microphone setup: ?(?. I do not like floor mount tripods in the shop - too easy to trip on, knock over, and difficult to position. ?Instead I use the following: For camera support/mounts, I use either a table-top Sirui mini tripod?? or?I will use a Manfroto double articulating arm configured as follows which will attach to basically anything:
Voice-over video microphone: ?? This is the articulating arm & clamp setup with Canon M50 - the iPhone mounts the same way. ?I have since sold the Canon M50. Here is a link to a handheld video I made for a friend about the Sirui tabletop tripod: ?? The Rode remote microphone setup looks like this - lower (black) unit goes in my shirt pocket, the upper (white/red) component plugs into the iPhone and hangs on the mount with velcro; I used the iPhone for all the still photography in my new Survival Guide book on carbide insert tooling. ? Here is the kind of close-up work the iPhone 11 can do right out of the box without any editing: Most of the short videos I do go straight onto Flickr or Instagram without any editing, directly from the iPhone. ? If I need to do a simple video editing, I use iMove on my iMac. ?Example here: ?? When a full length video needs to be assembled, I use Final Cut Pro - example here: ? ? iPhone Time-lapse video example here: ? iPhone Depth-of-Field control examples here: ?? Totem Pole
For a couple of you that made comments about the totem pole in my shop I am sharing how that came about.
The Totem pole came in for a little body work and a paint job, but this is the story. It is 50 years old, I was always with my dad when he was doing woodworking as I was fascinated. At five I was on the bandsaw doing things with him and move up to bigger tools as I got older When I was 5 he took me to see this "guy" that made stuff with only a chain saw. I was so fascinated watching him that we stayed the entire time he cut the totem pole In which I think was only an hour or two. My dad bought it and home we came, dont know how much he paid for it but I remember my mom was pissed. My dad being my dad installed it in the front yard so mom would have to look at it every time she came home. Well 50 years later when I sold my parents home I retrieved it and here it is for a tune up and to be mounted in my front yard to piss off my girlfriend. Traditions. I am using the West System to fix the cracks and the dry rot base ( thanks to you guys for turning me on to the West System) and found the old paint colors in the house when I sold it. That is the story and I am sticking to it. Glen |

Yes, you can air drop the files without problem or just upload?them / sync with iCloud. I havent?tried it yet, but if you have a newer M1 silicon Mac, maybe it is even possible to use Luma Fusion on the mac, I still have to test it out.? For tripod mount, I use this:??works for tablets and phones. I love mine.? Since I got this setup, I dont?use my Sony A7iii anymore for shop?videos.? let us know how the castings of the two saws compare.? I use a Beisemeyer clone on my 217.? The back rail serves as support for an outfeed table with two toggle clamps.? I made a high fence to straddle the original bies fence.? 2" thick so the math on the tape
is easy.? Dave

I won a 32" Northfield bandsaw on an auction this week.? I also recently bought a 30" Tannewitz bandsaw that I am restoring.? I will sell my 20" Felder FB540.? Neither the Tanny or the Northfield have a fence and I do use the fence on the FB540. Ideally I'd have either Aigner or Felder F-rail for the fence and one on the outfeed side so I can add extension tables when needed.? Does anyone's bandsaw fence mount to the same rail as either Aigner or Felder? |
