As a part time photographer, I think the use of portrait mode on the iPhone (and any other phone not using the periscope hack) is a hit or miss. The thing to keep in mind when using this mode is that the phone uses AI to blur the background, instead of using the laws of optics, which can create some unrealistic subject to background separation. It works relatively well for human subject but sometimes the subject?looks cut out like in this example from David:

while some others are very convincing:?

My current setup is filming with iPhone/iPad (90% of the time), editing on iPad with Luma Fusion and using a LED light on a tripod for directional lighting. It gets me about 80% of where I was using 10k$ worth of studio gears a few?years ago and it is so much more convenient!?

I forgot to mention one other iPhone support system I use in the shop. ? This one attaches to anything steel or cast iron with a switchable magnetic base. ?
This is the Noga MA61003 Big Boy: ?

How I use it:

Folks:

Do any of you create video in your shop for social media content, sales purposes, your web site etc.? If so, what type of camera do you use (or do you simply use a smart phone)? GoPro, Sony, other? I appreciate any bits of advice.
