I'm late to this thread. You could remove the front cover, it just snaps off. That way access under the seat/bed is open and the tray easily accessible. Kent Kirkley 1997 EVC

I keep stuff that we don't use very often under the rear seat - tarp, spare water containers (collapsible), towrope, and such.?

Ya I fully took it out and did the whole cleaning and maintenance on it for rails and such. Will continue to use as it is unless I figure an easier way to mod without sacrificing current seat and bed

This is a nice mod! I do want to keep the seat though and use as it is but thought maybe someone might have figured out how to make it more accessible.

Honesty, no. Don't modify the seat. I have removed mine, cleaned it thoroughly over and under, moved it to the bed position and back and opened and closed the seat to access the storage about 2,000
