No harm for driving with a bad speed sensor, we drove for 6 months with no speed sensor. Finally got a replacement all now works fine. You are correct the cruise control will not work as the computer

7D0959053 CAN be used... you miss the Anti-slip (ASR or ESP).

Hang onto those other sensors.? Sometimes having one to swap out can help with troubleshooting.? ?There are usually tests to confirm function.
