Seems to be a lot of Sears porti-pottis in our list EVCs. I've got one
too that we pull out of the rear storage area behind the back seat at night and place it behind the passenger seat. My wife and son wouldn't think of traveling without it. Works great. We have a Sears Pak-A-Potti 6000 portable toilet --- its made for Sears by Thetford. It works perfectly for travel and trips and fits well on the floor just in front of the rear seat next to the sliding side door. We added a set of non-slip pads to the bottom of the unit and use a nylon strap to secure it into place when traveling (one of those backpack style straps with quick snap connectors). Thetford also makes a set of quick-clip connectors to secure the Pak-A-Potti to the floor of the camper. I bought a set of those then decided not to use them after all as they required installing the clips permanently onto the floor. The quick-connect nylon strap serves the same function without having to drill into the floor. We had a similar portable toilet in our old '78 VW Campmobile, and one in our Apache pop-up camper before that. All worked equally well. Sheldon '97 EVC -----Original Message-----

At 3 AM under the bush or tree works the best for us (most often we camp out
in the wilderness, do not like those busy campgrounds much). I know some people have such hi tech devices, but I do not find enough room to store shit in my van (that's only my personal opinion). I guess that's just the matter of preference. At 09:17 AM 9/11/99 -0700, you wrote: I am considering buying a Eurovan Camper and I'm interested in whatSeverin Daniel Chayka @ PCI Energy Services. |

All I can say I bought my brand new in Wausau, Wisconsin (Wausau Import) in
May '98 (but that was '97 model) for $30k. It looks like not bad deal. They always have them there and they know about this camper a little, but it looks too far for you to travel. Drop me a line if you want to know more about that place. Severin. At 03:58 PM 9/10/99 -0700, you wrote: Hello, glad to find this group. See in Vanagon it was about 2" plug where full tank would be dry in 1-1.5
minutes just by gravity and here we have to live with this. At 02:35 PM 9/10/99 -0700, you wrote: Wow! It does seem like a bad design. I guess I'll just have to sufferSeverin Daniel Chayka @ PCI Energy Services. |

Tony and/or Donna Layng
Don't know how far you want to travel but we have a 1995 eurovan for
sale. We're the second owners...bought it two years ago in New York State just before moving here to North Carolina. We both retired and thought we would be taking lots of trips to the mountains, seashore and decided the 5 cycl Audi engine would be great for round-town driving as well as on the road. It is. But we are having such a good timein Winston-Salem, we just don't go camping like we used to when we were working and wanting to get away for weekends. Want more info let me know. Re: 93 EV Fuel Line Problem Survey
Eckhard Rolz
Access to the fuel lines,at the tank, and fuel pump, is made via a
removable cover under the carpet by the gear shift. You do not need to remove the tank. ->Thanks Chris for the tip. My manual, however, states that I have to cut the carpet to get to the access hole. Is there a way to get around cutting the oh so lovely blue carpet? If so I would be very interested. I suppose I could take the seats out and move the entire carpet, which I had to do when the A/C drain was plugged and flooded my van on a long trip. Make sure that drain pipe is clean!! Thanks Eckhard |

McDonalds VW/Audi has a salesman there (named Dave, I think) who has owned VW campers for 25 years. HE is very knowledgeable. The bottom line price for a 99 is, I believe $32,000. there is also a dealer in the Springs who is pretty cheap, but I do not think they know anything about Campers. Also there is a dealer in Fort Collins who seems to know what they are doing, but I found them to be pricey. -----Original Message-----

Gas Fumes
David R. Johnson
Ric:
Sorry to hear about your fire.? I've been extremely worried about this happening to someone.? Add my name to your growing list.? My 93 was leaking at cold start.? Bad fumes, and I could see the fuel dripping.? I replaced as many of the cheap-o VW clamps as I could get off.? There is one compression clamp on the black plastic line which I couldn't remove.? I didn't want to cut it, so I clamped over it.? The original clamp on the blue fuel line was very loose. I still have some fumes, although much less than before.? I believe the problem is the fuel line having some hairline cracks, as several others have mentioned.? I intend to replace the old rubber as soon as I can.? Must use reinforced fuel line, due to the higher pressure.? I can't locate any metric size hose, but it appears 5/16ths inch ID would work.? Any suggestions from the list? THESE THINGS LEAK GAS!? Let us know if we can help you. David |
