Stephen,

WHAT exhaust for the stove? The vents under the window are for the fridge.

I just wanted to add one note that I noticed the other day while looking
at
hte 2000 EVC. I noticed that they moved the Exhaust for the stove to the
rear of the van so it is no longer under that window.. Just a ntoe for
ventilation of hey they really do improve things ..

Re: 93 ev mv wkndr power loss

I had a 93 evc and it did the same thing . The dealer couldn't fix it as he
said he had to see it happen . I gave it to them for a week and still no help
as i drove it away from the shop it happened again ,I was so disgusted I
started looking myself even tho it may have voided the warranty.I think the
problem left after i replaced the o2 sensor.I learned to turn the switch off
and on while running down the road after awhile it would clear up.There was
bulletine issued by vw that said it could be the contact on the ayr folw
meter that was momentarily losing comtact.

the plastic had fatigued and was well beyond repair. I was thinking of
using some epoxy and just gluing the whole enchilada together, but by doing
this I'd forsake the ability to fold the mirrors to the door. I ended up
using an "S" shaped metal wire, one end hooked through the loop of the
tensioning strap, and the other hooked to the edge of part of the inner
plastic. I took it for a bumpy ride and slammed the doors a few times

Scott,

Yep, my RHS mirror did the same thing; bad design if I ever saw one. Since I never fold my mirrors I just epoxied them in place. I can't wait to rip them off on an immovable object..

Van folks:

I don't know if anyone has retrofitted a non-VW 2-seat bench into a
Vanagon or EV, but perhaps someone might be interested in trying; perhaps
one of you camper owners who needs more seating space!

A friend of mine allowed a sibling to borrow her Mazda MPV for a weekend
to move some stuff (without the middle bench, to leave more space) and--
whammo, he wrapped it around a telephone pole.

The good news: The sibling walked away from the now pretzel-shaped
people-mover. The bad news: The orphaned middle bench now languishes in
a back room.

It is blue, with a complete lap belt on the right side, and an estranged
Mazda buckle on the left. One could probably find another half (as well
as the necessary bench mounts) at an auto recycler.

It's located in Peterborough, Ontario, although the owner is willing to
drive it to Toronto or Cornwall for pick-up, while on a weekend family
visit. Or you could arrange shipping to your front door.

In terms of price, all they want is to dispose of the unit at _no cost_
to themselves, ASAP. So give them a call:

FALSE. VW dealers that sell the EVC should also be able to service it under

under warranty).
But, as in the case of a pedestrian asserting his right-of-way in an
argument with a truck, would you rather be right or alive? My dealer sells
EVCs, but one of his two local stores doesn't even have a lift that can
handle them. I would not want him messing with the propane system.
You're lucky if your VW dealer knows how to service the Winnie parts.

I believe the enrichment injector (single injector on the intake manifold with blue connector) only fires for a few seconds. ?It's out of the equation once the engine's running (unless its fault is that it's open all the time, in which case you'd get too cool running, and bad mileage).

Russ,

Can you post what the temp gauge indicates before and after you
experience the power loss? ?I'm guessing here, but it sounds like as
the EV warms up, you're losing the benefit of the enrichment injector
so you fault may be in the fuel injection system - the normal
operating mode has a problem somewhere.

between the bottom of the headlight and the bumper behind the the metal fill

it's easy too see with the grill off, 3 philips screws along the rad
support.the 2 body colored pieces clip to the fenders and are secured with
2-8mm screws .

Are these two lower screws reached from: Under the car? inside the hood?

Re: Has anyone actually repaired their temp/gas gauge?

Donald Hector

getting the gauge cluster out isn't too difficult once the steering wheel is
off.
next remove the steering column trim pieces upper and lower [3 screws there]
remove the cluster trim there's 2 screws .
the cluster is held with 2 screws and it tips forward and out after
releasing the speedo
cable and multipin harness. i think you have to squeese the end of the cable
to release
it.
once the cluster is out work on it indoors somewhere clean and bright.
mechanical inclination required to proceed ,
the voltage stablizer is on the RHS behind the analog clock or tach
whichever you have.
it is 3 legged and secured with a screw and plugs into a socket
with both my vans the problem was poor contact with the socket i chose to
solder it
directly to the cct board eliminating the socket. so far so good.

Re: Intermittent CC function

So far, my CC is working fine. I have had the instrument circuit board
resoldered, and the guages work after a fashion -- often the temp light
flashes after turning on the ignition for extended periods of time, or the
temp g. will suddenly shoot into the top end, the light flashes, suddenly the
gas tank is full again ;). As far as I can tell, the engine is not
overheating. But the CC keeps humming along.

Electrical - gauges

I have a 93 MV 5-speed with 82,000 miles since new. The fuel and gas
gauges went out several years ago and I just dealt without. Recently
the tachometer blitzed. Other electrical problems I have deal with
are door locks sometimes working sometimes not, again somthing I can
live with but a nusiance none the less. Mechanically the EV-MV is a
champ. Can anyone let me know what they had to deal with in getting
the temp/gas and or tach to operate. My biggest concern is the
electrial will eventually leave me stranded somewhere.
