Re: Has anyone actually repaired their temp/gas gauge?

Donald Hector

getting the gauge cluster out isn't too difficult once the steering wheel is
off.
next remove the steering column trim pieces upper and lower [3 screws there]
remove the cluster trim there's 2 screws .
the cluster is held with 2 screws and it tips forward and out after
releasing the speedo
cable and multipin harness. i think you have to squeese the end of the cable
to release
it.
once the cluster is out work on it indoors somewhere clean and bright.
mechanical inclination required to proceed ,
the voltage stablizer is on the RHS behind the analog clock or tach
whichever you have.
it is 3 legged and secured with a screw and plugs into a socket
with both my vans the problem was poor contact with the socket i chose to
solder it
directly to the cct board eliminating the socket. so far so good.

If so, how did you get to the back of the damn thing? Yes, I have no
manual... Anyone able to help out with some basic "how to remove the dash"
instructions? Thanks as always.
