Re: Norcold Fridge 3163
For sure, the thermocouple difficult to source (which I believe is that the OP was asking). ?It was out-of-stock, NLA, the last time I tried to find one. ?Good news is the other commenter who noted the issue is usually the re-lighter board, is spot on - that's what kept my Green Light on after ignition.
?
You a clean up the thermocouple with some fine emery paper - just don't be too aggressive.? |
Re: Norcold Fridge 3163
I've worked on and replaced a few of the norcolds.? I think that the thermocouple is relatively universal and can be found on a variety of RV sites. You just want a length that is similar to the stock one.? That said, I don't think the thermocouple usually fails.? in my experience its mostly the relighter board that goes out.? These fridges seem to eat them a little too often.? you can find them online on a variety of sites for a bit over $100.? I've gotten to where I can replace one by just removing the panel above the fridge and not having to pull the whole unit. |
Re: Norcold Fridge 3163
see Fig 6. it is the part in the middle of the flame

I am sure we will miss it terribly. We are the second owners and bought it from the original owner thru this email list. It is a great rig. Nothing is wrong. It has a lot of miles but will certainly go a lot more. I would not hesitate to drive it across the country. It is all clean waiting for its next owner to pick it up. Our zip is 98204. ? Rather than type everything out in a big email, here is a link to the advertisement on theSamba.com . It is also listed on Facebook Marketplace. ? ? Thank you to everyone on this email list. I have learned a lot thru the years and have enjoyed sharing my experiences. Mike Clough |
Re: Temp sensor - which one
B) F18 (Thermal Switch), three-wire threaded into the radiator and controls the radiator fans' low and medium speeds. (See Bentley Vol I, page C 19-3, item 8; also see Bentley Vol 2, page X-142.) Stage 1:? bottom half low fan speed (88-89 on; 76-83 off) - hysteresis Stage 2: top half medium fan speed (90-95 on; 82-89 off) ? C) BLACK or BLUE G62 (Engine Coolant Temp Sensor), a two-wire sensor on the head fitting that signals the ECM (it's critical to helping the ECM set correct timing and mixture, but is not part of cooling system). (See Bentley Vol 1, page C 19-7; also see Bentley Vol 2, page X-215.) ? D) BLUE G2/F95 (Engine Coolant Temp Sensor and After-Run Coolant Pump Thermal Switch), a four-wire sensor on the head fitting that controls two things: the temp gauge (one pair of wires) and the after-run pump (the other pair of wires). (See Bentley Vol 2, page X-222.) ? E) GREEN F45 (A/C Thermal Switch), a four-wire sensor in hose below radiator that activates the radiator fans' high speed, and disables AC compressor clutch if coolant temp keeps rising. (See Bentley Vol 2, page X-146; also see Bentley Vol 2, page S 87-61, item 4.) |
Temp sensor - which one
Does anybody know which temp sensor controls the radiator fans?? Is it the upper or lower? And is the upper temp sensor the one connected to the dash guage? What is the lower one used for? Also, anybody know which measuring block(s) is the temp sensor reading (vcds)? Do both show upper & lower temp sensors have measuring block in vcds? 1993 Eurovan |
Re: Play in my Left Side Flange Shaft
I didn't notice any before I pulled it out. I wish I had checked for that. I just hit the bolts with my impact to get them off, so I wasn't paying that much attention. It has a spring clip on it like the axle going into the outboard CV joint. Bentley shows using a slide hammer but I just used two cv bolts screwed through to push off of the differential housing. Very little effort. You're supposed to replace the circlip, which I did not, but I don't think that has anything to do with the play. Play in my Left Side Flange Shaft
I pulled my driver's side CV axle and replaced the inner CV boot. I also pulled the Flange Shaft out and replaced the oil seal because I have been getting a fair amount of oil leakage from it. This EV has 354k miles on it and the trans is original as far as I know. I bought it with 215k on it and no records, just good regular maintenance.
?
When I reinstalled the axle, I noticed that the flange had quite a bit of lateral play when I was torquing the bolts. I think I've found one reason for the leak. The old seal was pretty hard and the new one is nice and pliable.?
?
My question is what is the job here?? Total trans rebuild?? It's probably due. How long can I drive it?
?
Thanks,

Re: Anyone know how to remove an AC condensor from a 1995 EVC (Winnabago)
@bcolins, Did you figure out how to get the core support off?? I replaced my radiator this week and I knew exactly what you were talking about when I read this message.?
?
The rubber bumpers on the top are easily pushed through with a screwdriver and little lubricant like silicon or alcohol. I removed the plastic grill and the metal fascia about the bumper to access the radiator. It also makes it easier to move the condenser if you remove the headlight on that side, which is only 4 screws.?
?
Good luck,

Anyone know how to remove an AC condensor from a 1995 EVC (Winnabago)
I am replacing my AC compressor, dier, expansion valve and Condenser tomorrow morning with the help of a friend and am unable to figure out how to remove the condenser.? It is trapped by a plastic trim piece at the top under the metal core support which is held in place by two rubber bumpers that I cannot find how to release/remove.? Also trapped at the bottom by a plastic tray. |
