Ric,
I too am a loyal VW purchaser but listening to your story is putting that
enthusiasm to the test. Obviously there is a fuel line defect here that
needs correction. The owner's manual states nothing about the need for
periodic fuel line replacement to avoid leaks. The sooner VW takes action the
better their chances of holding onto customers like us. Perhaps EuroVan
owners don't matter much since we are so few in number but imagine if this
story made it to 60 minutes. That might do serious damage and hurt rising
Beetle , Passat and Jetta sales.
VW, if you are listening then take action now before it is too late.
