Re: Connecting Your Stream to Wi-Fi
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Ray/all, If you find that the Stream refuses to connect to your wireless router, setting that router to channel 11 seems to help. Unfortunately the instructions to do this are bespoke as it depends on the model of router and requires logging into its control panel to manipulate its settings. If you have access to a friendly techy though, it can be worth doing. Cheers, Ed On 12 May 2021 10:18:49 "Rea Lists" <reaslists@...> wrote:

Although my wife and I haven't had our various routers reset to a name we can remember as such, we've asked the engineers to continue using the same name for the new router as for the previous one. I assume it's that name to which you are referring when you mention the SSID, am I correct? Alexander Shannon -----Original Message----- |

As you'll read in a message, I've replied to Pele on list accepting her offer of help, and observing that I believe I have a way of finding the SSID and that I have the password stored somewhere which I can access. Alexander Shannon -----Original Message----- |

I can't access the SSID for my wi-fi at present, as I'm playing music on my Pixel 4A, but when I'm not playing music I believe I can use my Pixel 4A to find out the SSID and the password for my WI-FI, although I do know I have the password stored on either my 2nd generation stream itself as a note, or stored on my wife's 1st generation stream as a note. If you are able to send me the information, please can you send it to which ever of my e-mail addresses is easier for you. My two different e-mail addresses are as follows: Alexander.c.t.shannon@... Or Alexander.shannon@... Thank you in advance for the information. Alexander Shannon -----Original Message----- |

Alex, you would be well advised to take up Pele's offer of help. You will be in good hands if you do.

If you can get someone to read the SSID and password which should be on a label stuck to your router you will be off to a good start.? Make a note of those if you can. I have two Wi-Fi connections set up on my Stream and Trek.? One for my landline internet provider the other for linking to my phone's Wi-Fi tethering option which I sometimes have to enable to get a connection as, from time to time, the Stream refuses to find my main landline connection. One valuable addition the Humanware and other competitor Wi-Fi enabled accessible radio/players could usefully incorporate is an ability to connect directly to a 4G data connection but I doubt that will ever happen. I haven't fathomed out how to connect my 2nd gen stream to my wi-fi as yet, but once I'm able to, this thread will certainly be worth keeping so that I can try to import some of the playlists discussed on this thread. Alexander Shannon -----Original Message----- |

I am finding the UK Radio feeds site a bit of a handful as its difficult to fathom the underlying logic of the site, but I did find Black Country radio who's streaming URL I managed to download I note you give a direct link to MP3 streams and those are the ones the Stream and Trek seems happiest handling.? Not for nothing Humanware abandoned the AAC streams for the UK playlist for the BBC national stations but all the same My Stream and Trek devices still have trouble playing many of the stations in the UK playlist ?? .Not so with Pele's National playlist. I think I am going to have a headache prevoking session playing around creating and editing playlists in notepad to solve these problems once and for all.I could end up splitting the commercial playlist into commercial and community playlists. I think Humanware, in the UK at least, could do themselves a favour by distributing the PW playlists with the Trek and Stream. Still, enough for now, and hope some are getting more out of their Treks and Streams as a result of this conversation. Ray. On 11/05/2021 09:11 am, Pele West wrote:

First, transfer the commercial radio playlist that Pele gave a link to to an SD card placing it in the route directory. then put the SD card in the stream or trek. Press the number 7 key until you reach internet radio.? Press the number 8 key once I think to get to "import a play lis" option then press the hash key to the right of the zero key.? The playlist should then be imported into the Stream or Trek. Go to the radio playlists by pressing one and right-arrowing (key 6) until you reach the playlist you have just imported.? Pressing the hash key again will place you on the first station which I think is one of the Absolute Radio stations of which there are a few.? There are currently 40 stations in Pele's list, Bolton FM being the last of them. Hope that helps. Ray. On 10/05/2021 03:24 pm, Alan Russell wrote:

I have done a quick search for UK radio feeds and come up with a site which looks quite complicated so I don't know if this is the site where you found the feed for Bolton.? If you could post the URL here for UK radio feeds that would be very helpful.? I hope to use it to find Angel Radio Isle of Waite which OOTunes mucked up two or three years ago. I shall take a close look at your playlist in Notepad as it appears to have a magic ingredient allowing me to skip between UK national BBc stations in a way the default UK radio list does not let me do. Thanks again. Ray. On 10/05/2021 09:25 am, Pele West wrote:

I do have a smart phone but not up to speed using it at all, but that's another story.? The reason I and so many use the Trek and Stream is buttons and the Humanware interface which we find so much easier to use.? I do accept that a smart phone would most likely handle the streams I cannot hear on the trek but it would be nice to hear if anyone can hear Bolton FM on their smart phone just to confirm its the Trek that is the problem here. I have thought more than once Humanware would do well to sell a keyboard to work with smart phones to take advantage of up-to-date operating systems though I don't think HW is listening. Knowing that you have problems with hand co-ordination Adrian I am rather surprised you manage touch screen phones.Little surprising then that it was yourself who set up this list as I recall and its good you did. Sorry I don't have a treck to try it on, I think it is a lot of money for what you get extra, most of us have smart phones and can probably do most of it on there. Have you got a smart phone Ray, could you play Bolton fm on there? There are loads of accessible radio apps. Regards Adrien -----Original Message-----
