Re: OT: NYC ideas
Heath Volmer
We used to have a "ski train" that went from Denver west into the mountains. I got to ride that with the wife several years ago. Its amazing how much more scenic the world is when not surrounded by multi-lane highways and thousands of cars. You also get to see places that you don't see from the car.

It was pretty cool. There were 11 other bands and we all played acoustic
sets at every stop for the locals. The whole thing was broadcast on CBC radio. They were making a documentary but last I heard the company shooting lost all the raw film on their HDD (using a normal external drive with NO backup.....). There was also a lot of partying/drinking on the train, lol. I've spent most of my life living around and enjoying the mountains, but seeing them from a train was a whole new experience. It did get SUPER boring after Edmonton though... On Thu, May 2, 2013 at 9:22 AM, Heath Volmer <hvolmer@...> wrote: ** [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |

That sounds like a blast. Let me out in the mountains and pick me up in a few days.

Instead of flying home from Vancouver, take the train across the Canadian Rockies. The scenery gets boring after the mountains so I would get off somewhere in the middle and rent a car for the drive home.

With older firmware you can just use a physical PTL-4 where you have a
programmatic TPS-4L. With newer firmware, the processor pays more attention to the panel's identity and won't speak to the PTL-4. On Thu, 2 May 2013 13:10:09 +0000, Heather Baiman <heather@...> wrote: We have two PTL-4s lying around that we're never going to be able to get rid of and we need |

For theater (re), I usually wander by the TKTS booth in Times Square and just pick a title at random off the board if I'm so inclined. The Highline park in (IIRC) the Meatpacking District is a cool urban park. Beyond that "Get a [unlimited ride] MetroCard and wander around the city stopping at anything that looks interesting" is my typical modus operanda for larger cities, especially NYC. I've got rid of my program and am just using the one supplied with the module. I've uploaded it to my QM-RMC. (Was using an AV2) I made the cable myself, pins 2,3,5 -> T,R,S tested it with a mm several times to be sure. I've also tried changing the baud rate to 115200 as previously suggested. It's now back on 9600. I think the key thing here is that I am getting absolutely nothing coming into SIMPL Debugger on the Rx$ of the com port that the Ex-Link is connected to. Re: PTL4 to TPS4L
If you (or anyone else) ever end up needing a TPS-4L I have two brand new in a box units in my basement.
I had them for sale for $150CDN each O.B.O. I'll even be in Manhattan from May 4-8 ;). Re: OT: Introducing HDMI to component distribution (PVID/BIPAD) creates ground loop
So, whatever you plug the HDMI cable (and Vanco balun setup) into at the
equipment rack causes the loop to appear on any of the component sources that run through the pvid? _____ From: Crestron@... Subject: [Crestron] OT: Introducing HDMI to component distribution (PVID/BIPAD) creates ground loop Basically, the above. We've taken over an old analog distribution system, and recently replaced an old Fujitsu plasma w/ a large Samsung LED unit. No problem while on component distribution. We were then asked to connect 'His Cable' to the new TV via HDMI as the lead-in to a DM system. Pulled 2x Cat6 about 60' and used a Vanco balun to accomplish this. We now have a ground loop on component signals (additional cable boxes, BD, AppleTV gen1) to the Samsung. No issue on the other TVs. Disconnecting the HDMI from the cable box fixes the issue. Other cable boxes/BD also reintroduce the loop. Have tried an isolator on the component connections between the TV and the PVID, and the PVID and the cable box, no change. Any suggestions/fixes? |

Creating Epson serial module for Powerlite G5450
chuckperkinscrestron
I have created a module for our Epson G5450 projectors. Everything seems to work but I have a couple questions.
1. When the projector is "Off", I get a ERR\x0D when polling the projector, I will get the PWR=04\x0D also, that shows that it's off. When the projector is "On" I only receive the PWR=01\x0D response from the projector. I have the module set to pulse the "Proj is On" or the "Projector Is Off" based on the status returned from the polling. With this polling, my touch panel buttons are always in sync with the status of the projector On/Warmup/CoolDn/Off even if the projector in control by the IR remote. I see in the Crestron Module for the Epson G5650 (which uses the same commands) that they watch for the ERR or : (ack) but I can't figure out what they are doing when the response is received. I created my own module so that I can monitor/control just what I need - Power On/Off, Pic Mute On/Off, Lamp Hours, Select HDMI Input Does the ERR\x0D response cause issues after polling for long periods of time? 2. I have noticed that after the projector has been Off over night, that it doesn't respond to the Power On command from the button press. After the first time the power on press makes the projector turn on almost immediately. I don't see any shut down/sleep timers that are set in the projector. Thanks for any info you maybe able to share. Chuck |

Re: OT: Introducing HDMI to component distribution (PVID/BIPAD) creates ground loop
I would check the same thing. You can pick up a cheap coax ground loop isolator from the shack or get something like the Jensen at the bottom of this page.
The Jensen works well, but if the cable company ever comes to troubleshoot an issue, they often remove them and throw them away. I usually try a cheapo first and if that causes an issue, then I go with the Jensen. -Kevin On May 2, 2013, at 6:12, 鲹ë Thiffault <raphaelthiffault@...> wrote: If you disconnect the cable from the cable did tou continue to see the loop? You could also use an ATOD symbol. Negative numbers are the only ones that have the highest bit set.
