Re: OT: NYC ideas

Burger Joint in Le Parker Meridian across from Carnegie Hall is a decent burger-to-$ ratio and an odd contrast from the fairly elegant hotel lobby.

For theater (re), I usually wander by the TKTS booth in Times Square and just pick a title at random off the board if I'm so inclined.

The Highline park in (IIRC) the Meatpacking District is a cool urban park.

Beyond that "Get a [unlimited ride] MetroCard and wander around the city stopping at anything that looks interesting" is my typical modus operanda for larger cities, especially NYC. [Ok, so I really love Cleveland and don't see myself moving anytime soon, but Manhattan is my "If I could afford to love there..." city]

Speaking of travel... I'm wrapping up my last few days of my first visit to Vancouver (both the city and Canada) -- anything I should be sure not to miss if I happen to create any free time?

Subject: [Crestron] OT: NYC ideas

So now that my memory was just jogged, I've been meaning to post on here.

This Saturday I'm headed to Manhattan for the 6th time. However this is the first time where it's a purely personal trip, no work or visit to Rockleigh planned so I have more time in the city.

I'm looking for ideas on what to do on the Monday and Tuesday. I'm bringing a friend who's never been before and has a conference at Lincoln Center over the weekend.

Like I said, I've been 5 times before and done most of the touristy stuff already. Some of it ill do again just so she can go up the Empire State Building and so on. I'm more looking for less obvious things to do.

Clinton street bakery was recommended as a good breakfast spot. She's really into vegan/raw food so any places in Brooklyn or Manhattan that are good?

Also looking for something to do on Sunday night. I usually go see a standup show at Caroline's or Gotham, etc. but no one I'm super keen about is playing that night. Anyone know of a more "off broadway" spot that might have someone interesting on, or drop in?
