Converting from Pyng (CH) to D3Pro
I'm switching a fairly large lighting system from an old Pyng Hub to a D3Pro program, and wondered if anyone has done something similar and have any tips to share.
My biggest tasks will be documenting and recreating all the loads and scenes.? I've copied the Pyng config files and opened them in Notepad++ and can see patterns of association.? However, many things are only referred to by ID number, then you have to find/open another file to see what that number is actually referencing.? It's all doable, but just seems overly tedious. So, if anyone has done it before and can provide any tips for making the process more efficient, I'd be very grateful :-) |
NVX Director 160 with multiple classrooms with DMPS-350's
Hello,
I have some simple NVX installations but for the next big roll out we are also installing an NVX Director 160. I have multiple classrooms with DMPS4k-350's for in-room switching (pc,doc cam, bluray, laptop, airmedia, NVX D200) and control using TSW-770. The output will have DM and also an NVX-E30. Some rooms will have multiple displays (4-5) and will have NVXD200 at each display.? In talking to TB initially about a year ago it was my understanding that each DMPS would talk to the Director160 directly and I would program each room's displays to select the correct stream (much like subscribing to various streams on the D200 and doing an analog initialize to select the stream I want to view), that the Director would do all the routing of the streams. In getting the Director installed I am seeing that it looks like I need to route everything through a control processor that is "connected" to the Director. Yesterday, when talking to TB about the Director not auto discovering the endpoints, we discussed the control processor setup. I was told at first that I didn't need the C.P. at the Director because of the DMPS's, then I was told it was optional, and also that I could just use each DMPS as a Domain Control system and not have a Global domain, but that looks like I would be limited to 20 classrooms. Then they said I would need to do EIC between the DMPS's and that I need a C.P. at the director. Could someone provide some clarification as to what is needed to have each classroom's DMPS control what stream is going to the displays in that classroom through the Director. I also want the ability to override streams to displays for overflow and special occasions. All classrooms are in the same building, but we may add additional buildings in the future. Thank you for your time. |

It appeared that the 'dark web' was pounding so hard on long ago opened ports that his iPhone couldn't make a solid connection to the processor locally... That said, I'm sure (I hope!) that the IT company wouldn't be opening ports in this day and age. I assume that they certainly wouldn't open ports to your processor unless you asked them to anyway... Re: Crestron Go Tablet - iPad locking up after kept alive for X amount of time
I see this problem fairly often as we have a large number of iPads deployed over a number of sites.? ? Force close and restart the iPad fixes as you describe.? ? I have also seen the Go App respond again after 5 to 10 seconds, so its worth getting your client to touch a button on the page and wait for up to 30 seconds and see if the app comes back to life.? ?TBH, by the time you have been waiting 10 seconds or so you can have force closed and restarted....but worth testing to see if the app has stopped or just there is a delay.? ? ?My hunch is this is to do with the iPad IOS standby and power settings as it always happens after a period of time when the iPad has not been used, however I've never got to the bottom of that.? ? ?I don't believe we noticed the problem in the older iPad app or IOS versions and my perspective is its started to appear in the last 4 or so years.? ?Other than that we've never bothered to test it further.? ? ?You could try hooking up an iPad on an ethernet cable and switching off Wi-FI and see if this is Wi-Fi, Network related or IOS power saving related.? ? ?Its certainly not Crestron processor related as we also run computer based smart graphics mirrors of the iPad GUI and they never stop working.

Symetrix Symnet fader control module
I am attempting to use the Symetrix Symnet Fader Control (and Feedback Processor) to control a Prism 8x8.
All I think I need to use at the moment are sliders and mute buttons (I also found the Symetrix Button Control). The F1 help file says that I can get the sample program file from Symetrix, but when I called them, even they couldn't find it on their site (it's old). Does anyone have a copy of that, that I can get hold of? "Crestron Demo.sym". Any help or advice on these would be appreciated, since I'm pretty green at this. Thanks-a-bunch. jpe |
Re: S+ Change Rx Event
I¡¯m not sure that¡¯s an error ¡ª in C# you can catch a ¡°ThreadAbortException¡± for an opportunity to do something just as your thread is being aborted ¡ª
Gather() is a blocking call that doesn¡¯t return until the delimiter has been detected, and if you wrap that in a try-catch and get a thread abort exception, at most that¡¯s an opportunity to do a last-minute operation, but certainly isn¡¯t an ¡°error¡± ¡ª if it¡¯s an unwanted opportunity, you don¡¯t have to do anything with it or report it. Just exit instead |
S+ Change Rx Event
I'm getting a Thread Abort error in? my S+ code, when the processor is sent a STOPPROG command. Not a big deal but makes me wonder..

Is this still the correct way to handle buffer events in S+?

It doesn't go offline as far as signals go until the app is force closed.? So it is technically keeping the TCP connection alive, but the application itself is locking up. The project was installed less than a year ago.? No change to any network settings that I am aware of, but that's not my department.? It's local as well so ports "shouldn't" matter, but I will check with the companies IT department to make sure they didn't harden the local network at all.? It connects and works for X amount of time, so I don't think this is an issue though. Re: Zoom with Flex Systems
The Flex systems are kind of an 80% solution, particularly the ZoomRooms units.
We have a company that we're pulling all of the UC engines out and going to a 'simpler' all-custom system where the users bring their own PCs and run whatever their preferred Conference app is on their unit. we're just providing the Camera, Mic and Speakers to integrate it into a larger room for more people in a meeting... That, said, SMW does provide 'decent' hooks to go between a custom program and the Z or T app on the x70 panel. It works pretty well but there are big UI/graphics issues due to the locked-down nature of the Z/T apps and they sometimes behave oddly (Sometimes the Zoom app would kick us out, back to the Custom side when we didn't want it too). The biggest issue was BYOD with Zoom - A total crap-fest!!? I'm told that Teams is MUCH better, but I do generally trust Locked down apps and wizards because you always find some new BS item in the middle of deployment that derails you. I just prefer to stay in the custom/SMW domain because generally if I find some issue, I can create a work-around... Feel free to reach out directly if you want to chat... |

First my standard settings are similar, just changing the Auto-Recon to Yes and Hiding the Demo project, neither of which should have any bearing on your situation.
Check for updates has never been an issue for me... Also, is this the GO app or the Silver Crestron App?? The Silver Crestron App still works but I can see that this may not last as it was deprecated 4+ years ago... Do you know if the iPad goes 'Offline' with the processor (IPTable) when this happens?? It may or may not, but this could shed some light... Though this has been discussed at length over the last 4-5 years, if this is an existing project that has been running on some level for longer than 5+ years...Any change that your Router has ports forwarded? particularly directly to the processor?? If so, That is likely your issue. Close the ports for a test and see if it solves your issue. |
Re: Crestron Go Tablet - iPad locking up after kept alive for X amount of time
Yeah, we have tried both settings, no change unfortunately.

Crestron Go Tablet - iPad locking up after kept alive for X amount of time
I have a client who has an issue I have researched, but have not been able to find anyone else experiencing the problem.? I'm still trying to determine where the problem may lie but would love to hear if anyone else has run into this issue and/or thoughts on what may be causing it.
Basically the client has an iPad with a VTP project hosted on the processor.? It's not a large project at all, just a pretty standard resi type project that works perfectly fine on the in wall panels.? The client is stating that locally (iPad is on the local network) after random period of times, while the iPad is locked in keep awake, when the iPad is running the application and project, the entire app will lock up not allowing any input from the user.? The client then has to close the app, reload and it works fine again until the next lockup which is basically just another RNG amount of time. The application, iPad and processor are all up to date with firmware and iOS updates. LockConfig:? ?Off Lock Orientation:? Off Auto-reconnect:? Off Check for Update:? On Logging Enabled:? Off Hide Demo Project:? Off Use Improved H.264 Player:? On Thoughts?? TIA! |
Re: Shelly button press
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Itai, What you are seeing is the way the module was written.? All the Input_*_*_FB outputs are simply pulsed as I viewed these as events that will drive other actions in a program.? In my testing I was using a simple push button tied to the input on the relay so I could test double-press, etc. events.? That probably drove my implementing the code this way. The help for the module specifically documents these as pulsed
outputs.? If you need something different it is pretty easy to add
a little additional logic in your program.? Hope this helps Thanks Jay On 4/25/2024 7:32 AM, IBG via groups.io
