Topics in Home Automation - New Article in Residential Tech Today
My latest article, "New Amazon Service Could Disrupt the PERS Industry¡± is being published by the good folks at Residential Tech Today Magazine on their web site.?? To bring news and events
Amazon has released a new service, Alexa Emergency Assist, that competes directly with services offered by the personnel emergency response industry at a significantly lower cost.? This article goes into the details of this new service, which may be of interest to both seniors and anyone who lives alone.? It could also be of interest to integrators whose older customers could find added value to this service in their integrator installed smart homes. You can find the article here: For those interested in earlier articles that I've written, you can find those here: I've found a new site to host my blog so for those that want to see even more content I've written about smart home technology you can find that using the link below.? The process of exporting all my old content from Blogger and importing it into WordPress was far from perfect.? So there are formatting issues with old posts and images that didn't import.? I will see what I can do about correcting some of these issues over time. Thanks |
Re: Samsung Frame OFF Codes
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýCan confirm this is correct. When the TV is on, art mode brings up art mode, any input brings it back to TV mode. I generally use art on as the standard off and use a push and hold to trigger full off. Re: Samsung Frame OFF Codes
I don't think an input command kicked it out of art mode, but I was implementing them in an out of state project, so my testing wasn't as thorough as I would've liked. I was able to get the behavior I was going for but I wasn't excited about the implementation. Felt a little like IR control of certain projectors with steppers sending commands multiple times and such.

Re: SD Cards
The message saying it needs formatting is normal (don't do it though). That's because the data that's on it isn't formatted for Windows. Not sure why you're not seeing it in WinDisk32 though. It worked for me using the built in microSD slot on my Dell laptop.

Re: SD Cards
Bare in mind that many USB to SD card readers do not support burning images.? Even the SD card readers built into many laptops do not support burning images.? I have never used WinDisk32, but that could be why WinDisk32 doesn't work for you.? Here is a USB SD card reader that I have found that can be used to create/restore images.
https://www.canakit.com/mini-micro-sd-usb-reader.html But really your best option is to create an image using the Linux DD command.? Just be careful as you could land up wiping your OS instead. If you have a Raspberry Pi? laying around, you can created or restore images with it. Or if you have an old PC laying around, you could boot it with a Linux boot USB and run DD that way. Unfortunately, I think you are out of luck trying to use DD with "Linux on Windows with WSL" as I don't believe DD will have the proper low level interface from a window's host. |
