Re: Packet BBS using 44 network
Alan You don't need the file if you do the ip gateway setup.? If your host already has a working 44 address, just add the IPGATEWAY configuration as per the docs should work.? I've not done that on an already 44 host.? Steve? On Wed, 2 Apr 2025, 10:04 Alan via , <alan=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Packet BBS using 44 network
The way I do it is to set a dmz address in the router and use that as the point in BPQ with another 192 address. I couldn't add it in the web page directly as it only allows detected IPs and because its a virtual in BPQ that doesn't happen. I had to fudge the live html before submitting the page in the router. That's just a problem with my router. 73 Steve? On Wed, 2 Apr 2025, 08:30 Alan via , <alan=[email protected]> wrote:

Hi Mark,
?
? I am afraid they built a motorway from the M6 directly into Blackpool, that has reduced the number of
? people coming to Blackpool it used to take 2/3 hours from the M6 to get into Blackpool, so when you got
? there you was to tired to leave if you did not like it, now 15mins from M6 in to Blackpool, and a lot of people

? No I am not on the 44NET Mailing list, did not know there was one :)
?
? No problem with server, but I would need help, I cant get this BPQ and Encap.txt working

Re: Packet BBS using 44 network
I know it well. How are the Seasiders doing this season? (I'm G7LTT in another life). So here's the thing, ideally you want an IP range that will fit in with your local RF LAN. So connecting to a US based HamGate might be problematic. However, that's not to say it cannot be done. We would just need to peel your 44.161 subnet out of the UK assignment. Are you on the 44net mailing list? Let's move over there and pick this up. Someone may have a solution already for the UK. Otherwise, if you are up for it and can afford the server, start a HamGate in the UK. I can share the docs with you seeing as how I built the solution. You can get me directly via NI2O at ARRL dot net. Meantime, take a look at ? Mark / NI2O? On Tue, Apr 1, 2025, 17:04 Alan via <alan=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Packet BBS using 44 network
There are many ways to skin this party at. The easiest by far is to get a Wire guard VPN connection. Where are you located? There's a project called "HamGate" operating in 13 East Coast States. Maybe join that? Mark / NI2O On Tue, Apr 1, 2025, 16:37 Alan via <alan=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: KM4ACK's Video How to install a Winlink Server on a Pi
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýError 98 means port in use. You could be using port 8080 in some other software or you could have two copies of LinBPQ running.Using SSID -10 for Winlink is the usual convention? but isn't required. 73, John On 31/03/2025 17:00, Jeremy Pierce via

When running screen -r bpq I get the following error.? Seems to be an incorrect port setting (comes up by default in linBPQ Config Generator).?
?
Also, you need to use CALLSIGN-10, if you are going to run this config as a Winlink Server??
?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.? I'm hoping that he does more videos on how to run forms.?

Re: LinBPQ says: KAM Pactor com4 com4 could not be opened
Unless you create a symlink com4 has no meaning on Linux. On Linux use DEVICE=/dev/ttyUSB3. This is similar to what you have in the config for the SCS? port.

If this station will have more than 1 radio, then a node could be of benefit. If you use BPQ as a node, then you could use the resources of this email reflector for guidance. LinBPQ says: KAM Pactor com4 com4 could not be opened

I just added a new Kantronics KAM XL to the modem/interface set I have already run with LinBPQ. The KAM is wired as a forth one device, /dev/ttyUSB3 (COM4). WL2K Delete command
We were installing a new WL2KREPORT line and got the frequency wrong. Way wrong. Like, out of band wrong.
?
I know Trimode has the ability to delete a frequency record from WL2K.? Does anyone know how to send a delete command to remove that bad frequency?? Using anything other than Trimode?
?
?
Yeah, I know it will fall off by tomorrow but I'd rather get it off sooner.

Re: Hardware for new node
I sat up a LinBPQ node a year ago with a Raspberry Pi 4 and Direwolf for VHF Packet. Eventually it will have a Winlink RMS but Internet is slow to show up. I also used the small UPS in the following link:
?
?
It has been working well but I do know there will be some challenges when we add VARA HF.? VARA does work with Wine and I am working out some scripts at home QTH to autostart, check for the radio, etc.
?
Radio is Kenwood TM-271 and a Rigblaster Plus for the interface with a serial PTT. Both were rotated out of service from the county EOC.
?
If you are not familiar with Linux, sticking with a Windows based computer might be easier. I think good results can be had on both platforms, but it has been a challenge for me to work with Linux. If I wasn't retired, I don't think I would have had the time to go up the learning curve. The caution with Windows is to watch out for those big-box store cheap laptops. They tend to be bloated with teaser software packages and junk that gets in the way.
