It sounds like something isn't set up correctly. The belt should not be that close to the back gear shaft. Here are a couple quick pics of mine. HWF

thanks iwill read them when i get back from work tonight. The issue i am having is if i have the backshaft in front, behind or through the belt the belt rubs on the shaft either when the back gears

I haven't used my original one for years , but used it all the time when I was a bicycle rider & patching sew-up's all the time . it was real handy for that . animal

Those air compressors are dry and have no oil reservoir. The only oil used would be during assembly a light coat would have been applied to the moving parts. If the filer material is missing from the

Your guess is as good as mine. Bought it off a guy who's father passed away; was covered in about a gallon of grease, missing change gears, broken travers housing and most of the reverse gearbox gears
