Re: Carriage Stop and Indicator

Jody:

Here is a photo of a carriage stop on my Atlas QC-42.? Built from plans available on Tom Technique's website.

I also show that same stop adapted to fit my Smithy 3-in-1 to include an indicator holder.

Hey guys,
I've been googling pictures for a dial indicator holder for the carriage with possibly a carriage stop as well.

I have seen to nice ideas and have a couple of my own but am wondering what you guys are using.
Thanks,

I own a few Diamond cutters and use them almost all the time. Work great with my Phase II BXA QCTP on my A/C 12¡±.

Re: Carriage Stop and Indicator

mrpete222 has videos of both. I've been saving 2" dial indicator for this purpose. I started a project to use it on the tailstock, but I need a magnet back.

Re: Carriage Stop and Indicator

If you zoom up on this image, you can see the micrometer stop parked at the far right.

Re: Carriage Stop and Indicator

Jody, I have both the original micrometer stop and the multi position stop offered on the turret setups, but I find myself using the micrometer stop the most.

Here is a real nice one I came across on Pinterest and plan on making someday. You could also use a micrometer head in it as a stop.

International shipping is different. The rates are established by agreement with the other country. For instance, it is cheaper to ship things from china to new York than it is to ship the same item from new jersey to new york. And in this case, shipping a tool holder across the pond should be inexpensive as it only weighs a few ounces.

GP, I have the AXA and lantern tool posts. I was looking at

the website of the Australian manufacturer who makes

tangential tool holders under the Diamond brand
name?www.eccentricengineering.com.au

Their website sucks, but I can't blame the man. His

tools seem awesome, and that is what counts. He can always

hire a web designing jockey to improve the site.?

The tool holders are listed by millimiter size and he is
not

measuring from the spindle center to the top of the
compound

to determine "tool height" which in turn is the

size of the holder. I am a bit stumped by this or maybe my

metric confusion is too great:??
