Re: All Industrial Summer Outlet Sale
I bought the same chuck on Amazon back on May 4? 2017 , it came
to $80.47 back then . Look at the Amazon link I just posted &
look at the original link , it's the same pic .
Bought this backplate , same day same station .
I've been happy with it , One of the reasons I bought it was
cause it's a good hunk smaller than the 6" Sanou, but the Sanou
also has soft jaws

On mine, I loosened the "bracket mounting bolts" and moved the drive spindle up to loosen the spindle belts.? Bolt heads were 9/16 and the nuts (under the pulley) were 11/16". Not room for a socket on the 11/16 nut.? I need to get mine put back together after the move.?

Some of the chucks have removable?shanks. You have to look at what you are buying if you want a removable?shank. Personally, the MT2 shank works perfectly on my lathes and 8520. I have multiple collets but never use them for drilling.

Suggest taking a battery powered drill

5/16¡± carriage bolts with nuts and washers plus
appropriate drill bit and wrench. Set the lathe feet

did something similar when bringing home a slightly

Re: Reasonable price range on a 3990?
Having disassembled one to move. Make sure you can lock the parts down so they don't slide into anything during transport. I had to replace parts, because as heavy as they are they will slide during transport if allowed to.? If it can be better tied down and you have a way of loading it in one piece it may be better. Separate ratchet straps on each side, not just one over the top to prevent flopping over.
For disassembly: The spindle belts only come off on the bottom. The stand easily separates into 4 pieces, legs shelf and drip tray. I would not bother trying to keep the stand together if you are removing the lathe.Tail stock and compound are easy to remove. Just don't lose the little brass pads in the compound that the screws clamp through. The electrical switch can be removed and stay with the base.?

Re: Quick & Dirty Stub Shaft
What a useful adaptor. And a wide range of other useful devices as well. One point to be considered? is how much weight and overhang are you putting on that little?618 spindle? After getting my 6 jaw Bison adjustable chuck I thought a lot about that. I finally turned my LMS (thanks guys) backplate around and put a steel sleeve onto the spigot for a place to take the load of the adjustment screws. This also minimised the overhang.? ?Bill
