Re: Atlas / Craftsman 10F-12 10" & 12" Lathe Half Nuts / Split Nut
Rexarino Feb 5 #102601
I used a spacer to make the lines on the thread dial assembly line up correctly after installing new half nuts from Clausing. Regards, Rex Just for future reference, how do you know or what is the indication, that the dial is not in sink with the half nuts and would require a spacer? Thanks, Ken H in AZ |

开云体育The sleeve type 3MT to 2MT adapter is to be greatly preferred over the much more common tang type in that at least the Atlas made one does not hang the 2MT widget out in front of the spindle nose. ? Re: Quick Change Post
开云体育In most Chinese cases I would agree with you.? But how badly depends upon the size and shape of the piston.? Most of the Chinese made piston-type tool posts have a very small round piston.? The Yuasa, which was I think the first piston type made some 40 odd years ago, has a larger rectangular piston.? I bought one new 38 years ago (when the cost in 2019 Dollars was about three times what the CDCO one costs today) and have never felt that it was inferior to the wedge type.? Fortunately, the holders will fit either type. ? Robert Downs ? From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Andrei

AXA Wedge-type QCTP kit: I am not endorsing this particular product or seller, just showing that they can be had for little money in comparison to top-name brands that are priced ten times higher. |

开云体育Stan, no, I would recommend the wedge type holder. I think I bought mine through eBay.

Re: Quick Change Post
I purchased the Phase II wedge type about 6 years ago.? I've been very happy with it.? I bought CDCO toolholders and found that their dimensions are a bit variable (the locking handle locks in a variety of different positions with the CDCO, but in the same place with the? Phase II).? The variability in dimensions has had no practical significance in the use of the toolholders.? Amazon has the Phase II set for $223 with free shipping. Kurt, I looked in CDCO, cdcotools.com, but I cannot copy a link to the post and tool holders because the page I am looking at doesn't have a link to it. However, it is item #29461 and includes the quick change post and 5 tools holders. It is called AXA Piston Type Tool Post for Lathe up to 12" and in the description it specifically says it fits an Atlas 10" and 12" Stan On 2/6/2019 1:26 PM, Kurt Sierens wrote:

Re: Atlas / Craftsman 10F-12 10" & 12" Lathe Half Nuts / Split Nut
Speedoo51: I had considered that the actual threads in the brass were not accurate to the size of the half nuts.? Yes, when I was reworking my lathe I replaced my lead screw with less worn acme threads, so all these parts can vary the accuracy? of the threads.? Only the? half nuts and the position of the thread dial can tell you when to start your threads.? All good info. On Wed, Feb 6, 2019 at 1:51 PM Jim Irwin <jimirwin@...> wrote:
