Re: Has anyone ever seen a cab forward General?
Yes, definently an inspection loco.? I agree that the inspection cab location was problematic.? Most inspection engines from that time period had a coach-type body mounted over the boiler - sort of like an extended camelback.? Red Ball, for one, did a brass inspection engine back in the late '60's/early '70's in HO.

I seem to recall that picture having also appeared in Railroad Magazine where it was called an inspection locomotive. Nowadays
such inspections seem to be done from cars with a glass rear window and theater seating. Having seen pictures of other inspection locomotives, evidently it was usual in earlier days to inspect from the front. Perhaps some V.P. caught a bull in his lap, a fashion changing event, being that V.P.s more often hand out the bull than receive it. Seems to me that Revell had 3 variations, the engine house, the Superior Bakery, and the print shop. That wasn't the Carsten's Publications shop, was it? I think the Carsten's was a multistory building by someone else that actually resembled the Ramsey, NJ location.?

I don't recall a Standard Electric variation by anyone. That doesn't mean much though. Walter On Fri, Nov 16, 2012 at 10:01 PM, Long95209 <long95209@...> wrote:

Jim H: After reading your note I was pretty sure that I had a pair of those Varney trucks, so I dug thru the parts bin, and they're sitting on my desk now. You need the die cast sprung bettendorf trucks with brass pick up wheels on one side, as supplied with the Old Lady and Casey Jones? If so let me know where you want 'em shipped, and I'll get them in the mail to you.

Re: eBay Bowser 4-8-2
Is there a speaker? If not, the board is probably a DCC decoder board only (no sound). I am sure that someone around would be happy to buy it from you. Is there any ID on the board? It seems a waste to throw it away. I agree with HH.

eBay Bowser 4-8-2
Well now that I got back on Line I can show you some pictures of
the newer Bowser 4-8-2 Mountain. I think the price of $33 isn't to bad with a new running Helix Humper motor in it. I had bought to have a project to repair but there Isn't much wrong with the engine. Won't take much to get it running. Might be to new for my vintage collection. The frame , drive and valve gear are in great shape. The pilot has to be attached. Only thing wrong with the boiler / cab is the back plate of the cab is cracked in half. Easy fix. The trucks from the tender are missing. I can take 2 out of a mint Varney kit to use ( pictured) unless someone has two to sell. Basically clean the paint off , repaint and decal. Will probably use on my layout to replace a Rivarossi Mike I have there. Motor promised to someone if we can trade and the motor offered me fits. Throwing away the sound board. No plans, to many wires. Jim H |

I found this video of someone doing modifications to a LL GP38, but you can see through his editorial text that it has a Mabuchi can motor with a shaft running to a gear tower. Maybe the NWSL gearing was for these? Is this the current version of these locos?

Re: Life-Like F7
开云体育Hi guys. Just a couple of points. ? First the photos section is mighty much huge as compared to the files section. Several groups I belong to have had to ask members to transfer their photos from the files section to the photos area as the files were nearing capacity. Those that didn’t move them often had them just plain dumped. Files are more for articles and such and, yes, there may be photos as part of that. But for just plain photos please use the photos section. ? Also, whether or not a particular group allows attachments is up to the groups owner/moderator(s). Yahoo does make the attachments option available but takes no part in its usage. ? John Hagen ? From: yardbirdtrains@... [mailto:yardbirdtrains@...] On Behalf Of DenisL
Sent: Sunday, August 12, 2012 10:50 AM To: yardbirdtrains@... Subject: [yardbirdtrains] Re: Life-Like F7 ? ? You were not being a pest. I believe I started off incorrectly trying to attach. And, as you mentioned, I have found that some Yahoo groups will not allow attachments. I prefer using attachments though, when showing pictures of, what I consider a subject having only transient value. |
