Who manufactured this HO 4-6-2? 8
Group, I just won this item. The seller (who is knowledgeable about a lot of HO items) labeled this as "Mantua". I thought not, because of the crossheads. I just remembered that some of the early Mantua had these "alligator" style ones. I'd like to know the manufacturer. Mike Nickerson Living in the biggest Concord in the USA - It is just overshadowed by the large-type "Oakland" on so many maps. (San Francisco Bay Area of California)

Krauss-Maffai HO locomotive 5
Is there anyone in the group the has information on the Krauss-Maffai HO locomotive I purchased one that has a large can motor that powers both trucks. The original AHM had one truck powered.. This doesn't look like a kit bash as it looks factory built. Well constructed with the German motor All wheels pick up, but the flanges are a bit larger but not as large as old AHM wheels are. To the moderator and members of this list. First, let me apologize if you receive multiple copies of this note, as I subscribe to several lists. This past Sunday my email account was hacked. It took some time to undo the damage. I’ve updated security and thoroughly cleaned everything and I think the account is now clean and secure. Thank you for your understanding. Elliot Fishbein

Mantua Classic Lindbergh Special 4-4-2 19
I just acquired a Limited Edition Mantua Classic 4-4-2 Atlantic that was still New In the Box. It is over 20 Years Old. When I tried to Run it on a test track, it ran erratic starting and stopping and shorting out. Does anyone have any ideas as to what would be causing the problem and any suggestion on how to fix it? Also is there anyway to upgrade this engine to DCC?

Mystery repowered Athearn F-7's 5
Awhile back our club inherited several Athearn F-7's (and one PA-1) from a gentleman here in the Birmingham area that had passed away. At first, I noticed the engines were heavier than normal and looking at the four holes in the bottom that are normally for the motor mounts were filled in. I knew something was up and I popped off the shell to find a huge can motor and flywheels that were nearly as wide as the carbody. For HO scale, this motor is an absolute beast. There are no clear ID marks alluding to the usual suspects like NWSL, A-Line, Hobbytown. etc. The only marks I can find on the motor are "Holland". Can anyone give some background on this repowering? Is this (or was this) part of a complete kit or is this something that would had to have been put together piecemeal with separate components? These engines run fantastic and pull well. I wish we had more of them, especially a couple of more of the PA's. Thanks in advance, -Jason Parham

Broken Bachmann Drivers 3
I know this is a common problem, and I just wonder if anybody has come up with a solution. I have a vintage Bachmann Plus 2-8-0 with drivers that have cracked nylon axles. I have tried super glue to no avail, and replacement axles are, to the best of my knowledge, unavailable. This is about the third set of axles that have cracked on me. Just what kind of crap is this? The rest of the loco seems OK. Any tips ?? Thanks

Mantua Power Drive parts 5
I have several Mantua power drive motors for my mikados, pacifics, and atlantics. They have different gear boxes, but all gear boxes will hook up to the motor with the plastic tube that you slip over both shafts. Unfortunately, I need a few of these, and of course Mantua is long gone. Does anybody know where I can get these? Thanks

MDC HOn3 Rod Locos
I asked this a couple of years ago, didn't get an answer for the 2-8-0's. I need to get a few regear kits for my unbuilt MDC kits. NWSL has a a kit that fits 1998 and later kits. But how does one tell which are pre-19998 and which are post-1998? Are all brown flat boxes pre-1998? Any help would be appreciated ... Mike Conder
