Nelson,
?I have never seen the drive shown in that video. It may be a newer drive.
?One of the GP38-2 drives I have uses the same components as the L/L F7 mentioned. The others I have use the pancake motor truck.

I found this video of someone doing modifications to a LL GP38, but you can see through his editorial text that it has a Mabuchi can motor with a shaft running to a gear tower. Maybe the NWSL gearing was for these? Is this the current version of these locos?
