Re: Early model CAT question
It probably depends on what software (and what version of it) you're using to drive the radio. If you're using rigctl, there's a separate radio model for the bi-directional and

Early model CAT question
One of my buddies is selling his 847, but it's one of the unidirectional models. Will I still be able to take advantage of doppler tracking and digital modes with it? Or do either of these require

Re: I want to use a tuner for my ft847!
I tried it and it works. Just connect it and use the tune button on the 847.

Re: I want to use a tuner for my ft847!
be interesting to know if anyone has actually tried an FC-40 (or the Mat-40 even) with an 847 successfully?

Re: I want to use a tuner for my ft847!
Thanks Spence. That was absolutely great of you to spend your time explaining that you have come up with similar logic I was thinking, so everything should be okay as you say “it has the same socket

Re: I want to use a tuner for my ft847!
Just to give you a little further reading. Also note the socket on some radios is inverted. Pinouts remain the same. FT847 and FC20 - reset pin to the bottom Inverted FT897 and FC30 - Reset pin to

Re: I want to use a tuner for my ft847!
The FT847 has the same 8 pin connections for other tuners. FC10, FC20, FC30 and others. This is important for band switching. I have all three tuners and tested them all and they all work well.

Re: I want to use a tuner for my ft847!
Cheers thanks for your reply. I expected this anyway I thought it should work but it’s just that for some reason most of these units do not list the 847 yet it has the same connection as the other

Re: I want to use a tuner for my ft847!
EVERY Auto AT with a semi automatic mode will work with any radio. Just send a carrier and they will tune. Sandor KG4FET <vstockma@...> wrote:

Re: I want to use a tuner for my ft847!
There are 2 tuners that work with this radio. The FC-20 and the YT847. The YT847 is better in that it allows a PC connection for CAT control AND tuner funtionality. If you install the FC20, you will

I want to use a tuner for my ft847!
I want to use a tuner for my ft847! Whilst I know the FC 20 is used with this radio, I don’t have one but I do have the FC 40 but I can’t seem to find any information confirming that this Radio

Re: FL-7000 Interface with a FT-847
Ho Tom, I think you are correct, it is just belts and braces to isolate and not a bad idea. I have just fitted a ptt socket on my K2 using two MOSFETS, the ptt transistor is rated 500vV 20 Amp so

Re: FL-7000 Interface with a FT-847
I don't see why one needs a buffer to connect the PTT in the amp to a FT-847. Per the amp manual the open circuit voltage is 12V and the current is 10ma max. The stby jack on the 847 is rated at

Re: FL-7000 Interface with a FT-847
?Hi, Justin a quick question? What are your expectations? Band change? Or just TX and ALC? I have both but there is no band change data from an FT847 but you do have standby for PTT. You

Hi Rob, I've not found the need to have an isolation transformer, but yes, DC blocking is needed to keep the rig from going into transmit. If you don't have a transformer the

Sorry skip that…… I just couldn't decipher that on a mobile phone …. So small. There should also be a 2k resistor if the equipment uses and external PTT and does not reply on the high side
