VX-8DR with new BU-2 BlueTooth module 4
Hello folks, Has anyone in this group installed the BU-1 or BU-2 BlueTooth module and gotten it to work? Then does anyone have it working with a generic BT earpiece or headset, such as a Plantronics earpiece or other BT headphone? I have been unable to locate a BH-1 or BH-2 Yaesu headphone. I just bought the VX-8DR used and a new BU-2 module for it. I installed the BU-2 and do not see the BlueTooth ICON on the LCB screen, even though I have the BT POWER set to ON in the menu. Your advice is appreciated. Glen, WB4KTF, Austin TX

VX-8DR Won't power up
My VX-8DR will not power up after a failed program upload. I added some frequencies and during the upload there evidently was some issue, no error on the radio and the software said the upload was completed successfully. The radio turned off and won't turn back on. The battery was fully charge, but I did try another battery. I also tried the Rest process in the owner's manual but there is no response from the radio. Has anyone else had this issue, or have any ideas that I might try. Thanks

Service menu changes are not persistent 2
Hi, I have my dad's vx7r ( now sk ) that sounds off frequency... its 144 deviation is set to 110. Iv tried turning it down to 90 but it seems that after a power back on the value is still on 110. V/M button seems to be functioning fine ...

VX-8R, DR, or GR 900 MHz coverage question
I bought an FT-60R and was disappointed to find that it doesn't meet its spec for coverage in the 900 MHz band. Tuning upwards, it skips 918.5-943.5 MHz. I can't access these frequencies from the keypad, either. Most of the frequencies of interest to hams are in the 927-928 range, making this radio almost useless for the 900 MHz amateur band. The spec page says cellular frequencies are blocked, but there are no cellular frequencies in this range, at least not in USA where the law they cite applies. Anyway, I wonder if the VX-8 series has the same problem. Its manual's specification page has some very broad disclaimers suggesting that someone at Yaesu knows that some of the specifications are false. Has anyone here found a similar bug in their VX-7 or VX-8[G|D]R radio? Cheers Halden VE7UTS

VX-5 Stuck on 144.000 Receive 3
My VX-5 has suddenly gotten stuck on 144.000 MR channel 1. The squelch stays open even if I set it to 15. Turning the dial knob doesn't do anything. I can push the (MR(SKP)SC) key and it will change to MT and i can turn the dial knob to change the frequency. I can push the (VFO(DW)SC) to change to VFO mode and everything seems to work OK. But as soon as I go back to the (MR(SKP)SC) key to returns to 144.000 as mentioned. I tried resetting the microprocessor but that didn't change anything. I also tried resetting the set mode but that didn't do anything either. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks, WN7CSI, N. Idaho

Using as a scanner 3
I am interested in using it as a scanner, as well. Is it possible to monitor trunked systems in the 800 range? No idea how to program for a trunked system. Nora

VX-7R repairs? 2
Nice to see this list spring back to life. I was using my VX-7R in my car as a scanner, and it was often hanging on odd channels. I stopped using it because of that. I wonder if there is still a service center/dealer that will give the radio a checkout for possible bad components? Dave. W1MMX

ADMS 1G software 6
I have dug out my vx7r after years of gathering dust. I always loved this radio, especially the battery life. Anyway, I am looking to update the programming with the ADMS 1G software from RT Systems. The cable is on the way from HRO and should arrive today. My software version is on a disk and is version 2.32. It is REALLY old. Does anyone know if that is the latest version? RT systems still sells the software, but I don’t want to buy it again, and my serial number is so old that their system doesn’t recognize it. Also had any programmed the vx7 using this software on a computer running windows 10? Thank you. Nora kb1ohb

VX8r clock resets to 00 4
Been battling with this for some time and just today found out that there is an internal rechargeable lithium-ion battery specifically for the clock. I have the suspicion that this battery is no longer good (I've had my vx8r many years) and finally needs to be replaced. I was wondering if anyone in the group has ever tried to replace this battery? As far as I can tell, it's mounted directly to a PC board (as it looks like in the maintenance manual. Hope someone can help. Floyd Bixler WD8DUP/DA1VF
