I just purchased from amazon about a month ago, and have had great results. If interested I will?look up the vendor I dealt with.

Otherwise I have found the price just a bit too prohibitive for me to get the Branded battery.

VX-8R Clock stuck in 12Hr mode

开云体育

This worked before I pulled the battery pack then replaced it but now it wont let me set the time in 24 Hr format.? It keeps time and date fine if 12 Hr format, I have no GPS but its set to Manual, GPS Time Zone is UTC +0:00, in Set Mode I follow the manual, changing date, time, and hitting Mode Key till its on Set, then hit the V/M key, it beeps after the V/M key press, then I hit PTT.? If I enter anything in 24 Hr mode it wont except it or reverts to 00:00 if between 13:00 and 24:00.? Is there some setting I’m missing or some procedure to set the format to 24 Hr ??

?

Maybe the internal clock battery is toast but doubt that could cause it to not accept a 24 Hr time format.

?

I sent same question to Yaesu as well to see if anyone has a clue.

?

Any help appreciated,

?

If you live near Santa Clara, I can program the radio for you using my VX-8R DIY cable and CHIRP. ?I think I bought some other software too. ?I believe the settings are also available along with the memories.

I forget the setting i couldn't figure out how to change but one of the text settings it wouldn't allow me to edit any fields.

I also have a FTM-400 and it might be doing the same. That radio is in the shop so might be blocked but it is in the window so I wouldn't think so. The HT was outside with a very clear view up.

Thanks

Hi Brad, congratulations on the VX-8R!? I can't help you with any specific settings, but any time I purchase a used programmable radio I perform a reset once I have determined the TX and RX basic functions work properly.

The original antenna is 3 pieces.? The smallest piece attached to the longest antenna is used at 144..440 mhz.? The second long track is used at 50mhz.? Mine was destroyed, luckily I was able to find a new original antenna set at HRO Anaheim.? Small parts screwed to the end may loosen from the connection point and fall to the ground and get lost.? be careful. TA1CT 73

Leslie and George, THANK YOU for the info!? You messages jogged my memory, and I remembered that the VX series of portables with 6 meter capability standard all came with the same antenna in 3 parts:? The main part approx 7" long seen below in my photo with a threaded tip, a very short top section for use on 2/222/440 (which I have misplaced over the years), and 3.5" loaded top section for use on 6 meters.? My two pieces are meant for 6 meters and work with my VX-6R modified to work on 6 - and also work fine on 2/222/440.? My stock VX-6R antenna is 7.75" long for 2/222/440 in case I want a shorter antenna on those bands.

In my junk box I came across the antenna pictured which I'm sure was for my previous VX-6, 7 or 8 - and wonder if anyone knows what it is and what bands it covers?? It has the same SMA connector as my Comet so fits on the new VX-6 and I am assuming would fit on the 7 and 8 as well.

Re: Need help identifying an antenna please

I have an old VX-7 and that looks like the original antenna that comes with the radio.

Good luck, George

Re: Need help identifying an antenna please

Tad:
I may be wrong but I believe the upper antenna is the stock antenna with the cap removed.
For 50MHz, you would screw the smaller antenna on top of the main antenna.
